I have no idea where most of it is. He is 10 and has had to work independently as both DH and I have to work full time. I hate clutter and have definitely thrown many old work sheets away.

Have you got much to hand in?

Thankfully for us, my DC’s school was setting work online, and asking that work be submitted online.
Some of the work was done directly on the online platform, any work done on paper was photographed and uploaded daily as the school requested.
So the school already has electronic copies of everything my DC did.

Sounds like a PITA having to gather it all together now, if the school didn’t warn you in advance that it was needed.
@AWhisperWillDoIfThatsAllYouCan it's not a competition my love. I'm glad you have coped and are more organised than I am.
@newcarcoming now come on OP should obviusly have developed psychic skills to predict the school would wanted the work handed in hard copy.

anyone who doesn't doesn't have a crystal ball to predict what the school wants must be a bad parent, stands to reasonHmm

joking aside- some comments are getting judgey on here, I guess some are wanting praise and brownie points.
well done everyone, for getting through it as best we could.

sorry I was being silly saying she should have predicted the schools request, by being ironic. the intention was to agree with you not offend. would you like to delete it?

newcarcoming · 07/03/2021 16:56

No, sorry I was a bit confused, but I see now!

The problem is that unfortunately it has really ruined his excitement for getting back to school. He is now stressed which is quite sad to see. Sad

Grin anything here done on paper is gone
If the school want it they can re-print the photos they already have

Honestly one of the most ridiculous things that happened last year was my DF deciding to give me 7 boxes of my childhood primary school work -> recycle! I feel no urge to repeat that exercise for my DC

Bunnybigears · 07/03/2021 17:02

@newcarcoming honestly the teachers won't care, they just want the kids back with a smile on their face. If I was you I would send an email to the school today to explain the situation and tell them DS is worried about it.

JassyRadlett · 07/03/2021 17:06

And binning your child’s work shows him how much you value it...

What a ludicrous comment.

Fortunately most children are level-headed enough to know the difference between a parent valuing and being proud of their learning and attitude to learning, and the importance of hoarding and treasuring every last White Rose maths worksheet from the last twelve months (which has been scanned and uploaded anyway - a slightly more 21st century approach to storing work....)

trilbydoll · 07/03/2021 17:09

I kept recycling the kids' work and they got a bit upset with me, they got a lot better at sticking it into their books! Everything was photographed and submitted so at that point it just becomes paper as far as I'm concerned. They kept going through the recycling pile and rescuing stuff Grin

NotOnMute · 07/03/2021 17:14

We’ve been asked to bring in the exercise books that school provided for home learning (socially distanced collection in a set time slot in the playground, in the second week back), so that they can see all the work that wasn’t uploaded. We only had to upload one thing a day, so there’s lots more.

ChocolateSantaisthebestkind · 07/03/2021 17:18

Just send a note, you can't redo it all now and making yourselves anxious for tomorrow will achieve nothing.
