Polar O Pyret/waterproof trouser recommendations

boring question alert.

I need to replace my DC's waterproofs which are totally knackered after 6-9months of hard use. They were Muddypuddles suits so not cheap and I had been hoping that they would last well enough to be handed down. Both have multiple holes in along the edges of taped seams and in other places from wear and tear. Hard wear and tear tbh but they are 3 and 4yrs so I wouldn't expect anything else.

Has anyone had Polarn O Pyret waterproofs for their kids (I'm thinking of trying the abrasion resistant ones) and did they last?

Alternatively does anyone have any suggestions for really tough proper waterproofs suitable for 2-5 year olds.

I don't mind spending money but we don't have it growing on a tree so I'd like to get something that can be used by more than 1 child.

We have had POP ones for ages and they are very good . They have very good sales

The H&M ones are also pretty hard-wearing. Judging by the amount of mud on them, DS seems to spend most of the nursery day lying down in puddles, and he stays dry/no holes in them yet. Also only £15.

My kids are adults now but I had POP coats and trousers way back when they were younger. Both kids wore them as have several since - incredibly hard wearing and durable, worth every penny I spent on them.

It might be a while before they come around again but Lidl’s waterproof overtrousers are excellent and now being used by DC2. DC1 has salopettes from Aldi’s ski range which are wearing well so far but she’s only had them a few months.

I can also recommend Didriksons waterproofs,
They are great.

We have had really decent mileage out of our Lidl ones too.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Ds2 has just inherited a Lidl coat which I generally found was good for dc1 but the seams leak a little in driving rain and strong wind. We're in the north Pennines so need stuff that can really stand up to the (sometimes very horrid) weather.

My first point of call for outerwear is POP via TopCashback. Or ebay second hand.

They offer a service where zips and poolers etc will be fixed for free if you ever need it too. I haven’t but it’s nice to have the back-up.

Sizings come up quite big - take that into consideration.

I have had lots of types, mainly second hand - POP are great and stand up to washing well.

Spotty Otter are also excellent, but very expensive new.

Jako were fabulous - think they were the best ones.

Didriksons good but not as breathable.

Aldi and Lidl ok for the price, but less comfortable for a long walk.

Jojo mamas were awful quality.

I buy Mountain Warehouse now, they are reasonably ok for the lower price.
