Making Easter special for adults including elderly relative

Our household is 4 adults and we will have an elderly relative with us for Easter (support bubble).
We're usually abroad for Easter, so other than the children having Easter Eggs when they were younger, we've never done much special.
Last year, lockdown was quite new, so apart from a few Easter table decors didn't do much. Support bubbles didn't exist so didn't have elderly relative with us.
This year for obvious reasons I would like to make it a bit more special. I have a few ideas but would appreciate a few more.

Easter bonnet and Easter egg decorating wouldn't work with this group, although perhaps an Easter Egg hunt in the garden might. And I could make some Easter Egg shaped biscuits for blind-folded decorating with writing icing.

Long walks are out of the question but will have short stroll around local parks.

A jigsaw will be on the go for relative, bidding on an Easter themed one.

We're not churchgoers but relative enjoys Songs of Praise/similar.

Food:
Fish dinner Good Friday
Turkey Dinner Easter Sunday

Simnel cake, hot cross buns, mini-egg decorated cup cakes across the weekend

Decorations:
'Eggs' hanging from twigs; daffodils on table;

The above might be enough but I know how brilliant MN is for ideas! So would welcome Easter food, decoration, & activity suggestions.

Thanks!

Sorry, that's obviously more for children than adults!

I don't really have much to add but lots of lovely flowers - daffodils and tulips. Just makes it so much happier!

Do you have a firepit or log burner? The smoke may not be ideal for your elderly relative but I have very fond memories of toasting hot cross buns this way one year.

Thanks all, this relative will happily join in the right kind of activity, and will also happily watch others. No young children will be with us. I do know her well enough to know what she will enjoy/join in on.

@Bloodybridget actually making baskets might appeal to her, she used to love doing stuff like that. Maybe she can help me with all the Easter decs like hanging eggs on a branch arrangement etc.

@Shakepineapple we don't have a log burner but what a lovely idea - may be useful for someone else.

@WhiskyIrnBru I agree, Flowers are so happy and sunny

There's a recipe in this month's delicious magazine (I think) to make your own Hot Cross Bun gin. I'm planning a batch! We've also got a couple of kits coming to decorate our own Easter eggs - nominally bought for my toddler but really bought for me and DH!

PleaseStopExplaining · 06/03/2021 13:30

Could you somehow subtlely ask for favourite Easter memories in advance and recreate?

At Easter a few years ago my parents had a leftover turkey and did full Christmas Dinner. Everyone had a miniature of their favourite spirit and a small egg (kinder egg size) at their seat at the table.

Watch the film Easter Parade!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 06/03/2021 14:01

@mynameiscalypso will def look for gin recipe, probably only I would drink it but hey!

@HelenaJustina I'd not heard of that film, just googled and it would be right up her street, if I can find it. The others wouldn't want to watch it but it would be something to entertain her when others are busy as she's here for quite a few days.

@PleaseStopExplaining yes, I had an Easter version of Christmas dinner in mind, good idea re eggs.

Thanks all! I'll go through all the ideas again and choose the more subtle/low key as I want to make an effort without it seeming too much fuss IYSWIM.

@RockingMyFiftiesNot I’m sure it was shown on BBC4 not that long ago so you might be able to find it on iplayer.

I don’t have any ideas but sounds lovely!
