What do you use your kitchen aid for?

Think of getting one as my husband makes dough every week for his pizza oven.

But ... it seems an extravagant purchase for a once a week dough making ritual. I'm not a massive baker either tbh - I do make meals from scratch though sometimes and I'm happy to be inspired!

So, if you have one, please tell me why you love it and what you do with it

I used mine to make mashed potatoes last night.
Why, oh why, haven't I done this before??!! It's a revelation

TonTonMacoute · 07/03/2021 13:56

Pizza dough needs hardly any kneading, spending £200-300 on a gadget just to do that is insane. You would be better spending the money on an Ooni pizza oven

Bake with Jack pizza dough.

Babyroobs · 07/03/2021 14:38

Just pizza dough and cakes.

midgedude · 07/03/2021 14:43

Bread cakes etc and bean burgers

MargaretThursday · 07/03/2021 15:04

Cakes is the main one.
But anything with whipped egg whites is amazing as it gets huge amount of volume!
We also have a juicer adaption which is great. I don't use it too often, but it making juicing oranges so easy.

4forkssake · 07/03/2021 15:20

I also have the ice cream attachment which makes making ice cream really easy.

ProperVexed · 07/03/2021 15:30

I use mine to make me happy...I stroke its rounded end and gaze at its beauty.
I also make dough and cakes!

hiredandsqueak · 07/03/2021 15:33

I'm ashamed to admit that I was given one as a gift and it's still in the box in my spare room. I have a little handheld mixer and bake every week but haven't felt the need to unpack it.

DramaAlpaca · 07/03/2021 15:35

Mine mostly sits on the kitchen counter looking pretty.

Whatwouldscullydo · 07/03/2021 15:41

Mine is used for cakes and doughs, frosting, I used it once once mashed potato to take the piss ( everyone moaned my mash was lumpy. I hate it I don't eat it so I don't give a shit. Made it lump free in the KA to prove a point. They didn't like it 🤣)

I.suck.at meringue though I'd love to be able to use it for that.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/03/2021 16:00

It's BRILLIANT for shredding the pulled pork... Otherwise, mayonnaise, cake mix, dough, pastry, shortbread and crumble mix (I have naturally really warm hands so can't do these manually. Making no-churn ice-cream mixtures, whisking egg whites, and with additional attachments I can mince meat and shred or strain vegetables.

DareIask · 07/03/2021 17:13

@LadyMonicaBaddingham

How do you shred pork in it? Never thought to try...

ScopeToCreate · 07/03/2021 17:19

I got a K Mix for a ridiculously cheap price on a Tesco Clubcard deal many years ago but I see it as a thing of beauty as well as a thing to use.

Mainly cake making for me. I always thought I made good cakes but the K Mix takes it to another level because I can just leave it creaming butter and sugar together whilst I weigh out the rest of the ingredients.

I have made meringue in it and whipped cream. But oh it brings so much joy just to look at it.

AtticusF1nch · 07/03/2021 20:40

@TonTonMacoute we have an ooni. Just fancy a kitchen aid and one of its jobs is dough making

OMG! Just working it out and mine is 30 years old! Still going strong, use it for cakes. I also have a Kitchen Aid food processor, both good pieces of kit.

TonTonMacoute · 09/03/2021 12:15

@AtticusF1nch

The Oonis are great, we are very impressed with ours.

If you want a Kitchen Aid then get one, but you yourself say in your OP that

it seems an extravagant purchase for a once a week dough making ritual

I'm just agreeing with you, it's bonkers! It just creates more washing up for something that only needs a few minutes to do by hand - unless you are making pizzas for the whole street of course.
