Bras

Often, when it gets to 6 - 7pm I am keen to take my bra off as it is uncomfortable. I see this happens a lot with other women but when is it a case of needs to be binned as uncomfortable so doesn't fit or is just end of day whatever? I'm never desperate to get any other item of clothing off. Also, red marks in the places it hurts. Is that a sign? With bras I feel fit okay it is less obvious they should go Confused.

I wish I knew, hopefully someone will be asking with an answer!
I've been measured, by different places, so I'm confident I'm in the right size... But it definitely digs in by the end of the day.

GreenSlide · 04/03/2021 18:52

I think you'd know if it wasn't fitting well, straps would be slipping and twisting, the back might ride up, wires would be digging into you all day. If you're desperate to take it off after an hour or two then time to rethink but I think even after wearing the most comfy clothes for hours it's nice to get them off.

SunshineCake · 04/03/2021 19:03

The straps are fine and it is only occasionally I feel I need to tart her the aid out but it is sore on the sides. Sometimes the front band is annoying too but I wonder if that is because on this bra it doesn't always sit flat.

If you aren't a large cup size, have a look at Asda soft and comfy range. Really supportive for being unwired and I hardly realise I'm wearing them.

SunshineCake · 05/03/2021 17:04

Thank you. I bought some soft crop top/long line bras from M and S and they are great. It was more about when it is time to throw out my old bras. Some of them I really like but if they are uncomfortable then it is silly to wear them.

If the front of the wire isn't sitting flat then it means the cup is too small, and often that means the back is too small also. I'd recommend measuring using the boob or bust measuring tool. I used to feel the same in a bra and was constantly sore from bits rubbing and digging in, but since getting the right size its a game changer! They have a Facebook page with lots of helpful info and they can check the fit of bras.

Howzaboutye · 05/03/2021 17:49

Gappy at the front means the cup is too small.
Sore shoulders means the band is too big.

Go down one band size and up a cup size on a cheap bra and see how that feels.

SunshineCake · 05/03/2021 18:11

It has just dawned on me I have had most of these bras since before I lost a lot of weight. That might be relevant. The discomfort is under the breasts or at the sides. I have measured using boob or bust. It is tricky when most seem to fit okay in the morning and I have different aged bras and different sizes but by the evening I want to get them off.

Ah my ribcage definitely increases over the day. It's a thing.

A really good bra fitter would find you bras that have that stretch in the band. But correct cup size.

That is key. Wires should only be on ribcage, not breast tissue at all.

SunshineCake · 05/03/2021 22:00

They are underneath. Not on tissue. I'm going to bite the bullet and get rid.

Have a look at boob or bust on Facebook and use their calculator to see if you are wearing the right size

Wotrewelookinat · 06/03/2021 08:39

Definitely look at Boob or Bust website and Facebook, excellent size calculator and lots of advice about how to know if your bra fits properly.

PlayingTheDevilsAvocado · 06/03/2021 08:44

Do you wash the bras in the machine? If so they’re probably past their best and I’d start again.

Rigby and Peller told me two bras on rotation should last about 6 months each!

Littlefluffyclouds13 · 06/03/2021 08:48

Are your boobs big? I'm a b cup and never wear a bra, I live in crop tops, they're so comfy I could sleep in them!
They also look great under t-shirts etc

99victoria · 06/03/2021 09:01

When I had a fitting consultation I was told I should expect bras to last about a year. Most bras have 3 sets of hooks. Because the band stretches, at fitting they should be comfortable on the loosest hooks then moved in approximately every 3 months.
Of course, it depends how often you wear it but I guess about 365 wears per bra :)

SunshineCake · 06/03/2021 19:14

All are definitely more than a year old. I hate waste but maybe throwing out is justified. Plus I have lost 2-3 stone so no wonder. Tbh I always thought they must be too small to be digging in and I knew I hadn't for bigger.
