Gosh a Baby Bjorn carrier has been the single best thing I've bought given my babies didnt sleep anywhere apart from on me.
Useless- my lovely Snuzpod. Both babies just wouldnt go in it. I loathe cosleeping.

DwangelaForever · 03/03/2021 19:40

@WellJuhnelle

Ewan the fucking dream sheep. Promised so much, delivered so little.

In the end we just accepted that I have children who don’t need sleep for the first three years of their lives but I hate that sheep for all the false hope it gave me

@welljuhnelle don't diss Ewan! He worked wonders for my first, to the point he actually became her comforter and she's 4 and still carries him about with her lol.

The newer deluxe one was bought for her younger brother and it wasn't as good.

Love my ergo and baby carriers, just not that brand lol

Baby conditioner
I don’t think I realised how much they scream at the hair wash-why would anyone go through that TWICE each night?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 03/03/2021 19:55

A sheep skin. Cost £70, doesn't help with sleep and is impossible to clean. We've still got it, and if they eventually trace COVID back to our manky sheep skin I won't be at all surprised.

OhToBeASeahorse · 03/03/2021 19:59

@FedNlanders I was just getting jealous there- carriers have been a godsend but honestly feel like they have given me PTSD! The day I swore at the Moby Wrap and threw it at the wall was a low point

@BeingATwatItsABingThing
That's great.

But I spent £50 on a buggy and about £90 on a carseat.

Did ds until he was 3.

Absolutely no need to be spending so much money imo.

TankGirl97 · 03/03/2021 20:05

I came on to say a 'top and tail bowl' too. I had one sat in my Amazon basket, until I realised I could just use an old ice-cream tub 😂.

Ours wasn’t £1000 but about £800. A lot of money and I felt like weeping at spending it but much used and much loved so worth the money for me.

GreenSlide · 03/03/2021 20:11

Oh speaking of top and tail bowls, with my first I had a whole changing table set up. Realised quickly it's much easier and safer to just do it on the floor! And the whole thing went unused even though it did have a top and tail bowl attached Grin

@worriedstar

I remember freaking out at 41+ weeks because I hadn't bought a baby hair brush
Funnily enough that's the one thing I did rush out to buy with a one week old as ds was born with loads of hair and it kept sticking out everywhere! Needed it perfect for the on Its!
IslaRoseGraceEtc · 03/03/2021 20:16

On it's? Photos!

DropDTuning · 03/03/2021 20:20

With my first we were moving house when I was 38 weeks so thought no point in buying stuff only to have to move it.

I went into labour at 37 weeks... we had NOTHING. my mum had to do an emergency run to Boots for some baby clothes. It was all fine.

We have a cot top changer. It’s great. No pointless changing units taking up loads of space and saves my back not having to change nappies on the floor. A cot tidy on the side also saves me from digging out all the stuff each time. I’m all for an easy life! Grin
ConnieDobbs · 03/03/2021 20:49

Those special nappy bins where the bags cost a million pounds

Equimum · 03/03/2021 20:53

I have to say, I don’t regret our expensive travel system at all. We used it until DS1 was three, and then for the same period for DS2. We are now expecting our third, and plan to replace a few parts and use it all over again.

PaperMonster · 03/03/2021 20:54

@JesusInTheCabbageVan my mum bought a sheepskin for in the car seat - I still have it. The cat likes to lie on it in front of a heater!!

endlesswicker · 03/03/2021 20:56

The epitome of uselessness - the top and tail bowl.

Pipppin · 03/03/2021 20:57

Dunno, I’m due my third & I’m still an advertisers dream. Ewan was shite so I’ve splurged on a My Hummy which is going to be crap too isn’t it?!

Never had a top & tail bowl though. I did have a baby blender / steamer which was used exactly 3 times Grin anddd I love nappy bins so I have two but I know most people hate them!

Chanel05 · 03/03/2021 21:05

Ewan, oh Ewan. So, so crap. Fortunately, I got mine for free on Facebook.

@Pipppin I was gifted a My Hummy when dd was born and we used it once... I actually think it's worse than Ewan! I use a free app on an old iPhone and that's been brilliant!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 03/03/2021 21:06

No I like the MyHummy! It seems to keep my son asleep (we found out when the batteries ran flat last night!) Although I suspect that its much the same as Ewan though, so if you didnt find him useful....

As a present for my newborn, one of my husbands friends bought a push along bike. No joke. It was an expensive door stop for a while. Its in the loft now. It'll be wheeled out as a birthday/christmas present when my sons old enough.

Itsamess8456 · 03/03/2021 21:07

PFB - I bought loads of things, most things were given away unused.

DC no 3 - I bought a pack of nappies and a pack of vests/babygrows from the supermarket - nothing else.

Cotton wool - it's supposed to be used for nappy cleans and new baby face washing in the bath for PFB. Subsequent babies have baby wipes for nappy changes and a flannel wash in the bath.

I had earbuds in a baby first essentials gift. I still am unsure what I should have done with them.

mommybear1 · 03/03/2021 21:08

@WellJuhnelle 🙌🏻 I feel your pain Ewan has become a stress reliever for me. I punch him in his sweet smiling face as I go passed him when my DS wakes for the 30th time 😬

brokengate · 03/03/2021 21:13

Yes top and tail, also baby bath.used it once, couldn't lift it post section to empty it.....

I was also sucked in with advertising for a nail thing that goes on your thumb then you rub babies nails. Or you just cut or bite them like a normal person and it stays in its packet.
