Need better oven gloves for my rubbish hand

I broke my wrist falling off a horse when I was 12/13, but it's three decades later that it's starting to be a problem. I keep breaking things. I've already replaced my own drinking glasses with plastic (if anyone can recommend any nice ones that don't look like they're for children...) and I'm going to have to go with melamine to replace broken plates and bowls because I'm now smashing the replacements. (Please recommend any non shameful melamine.)

I replaced my trusty old oven gloves with an £8 pair from Amazon (Cooksmart brand). They're crap. The heat comes straight through and they're slippery. I'm writing this pissed off because 10 minutes ago I watched my Instagram famous lunch (the baked feta tomato thing) slip through my hands and splatter all over the floor.

Please recommend some oven gloves with a decent grip if you have some. I don't trust reviews anymore Angry

I have le creuset ones. Expensive but really good and last years!

I have Lakeland ones. They've got a long joiner bit that's supposed to stop you burning your arms.

I have some John Lewis ones along middle protects your arms and it's padded on both sides of the mitt bit.

I’ve got Aga gauntlets, they’re expensive but good, there’s a towelling palm which gives good grip.

Grown up melamine but actually white glass. Oven, freezer, microwave and dishwasher proof and lightweight?

I have plain white ones. They are fab.

@fabulousathome - not sure they'd work as oven gloves Grin

In terms of the plates, I thought about care homes and how they are likely to have non breakable things, I found this on a site, not melamine but polycarbonate. Possibly better than melamine and says microwave safe. Not necessarily this, but may mean you can widen your search.

OP I have a black version of these from Aldi (bought about 2 years ago). They are great at gripping (assuming you can bend your thumbs) and only £6.99.

I have a steam oven as well as an oven so really appreciate the silicone outer.

The only downside is that it is a bit of a faff to turn them inside out to dry if you wash them.

On the subject of plates M&S often have some really pretty ones at the start of picnic season. Another alternative would be bamboo 'plastic". I have some cat bowls made out of the stuff, but normal plates are available: www.amazon.co.uk/Wheat-Standard-Microwave-Dishwasher-Friendly/dp/B07WFQRYJN/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&crid=27EY6MJ0E4RRX&keywords=bamboo+plates&sprefix=bamboo%2Caps%2C1493&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1614789510&sr=8-8

Emma Bridgewater does a nice melamine range for plates etc...

Worth talking to the docs maybe, if it's your wrist that keeps giving way? I guess it's your strong hand? What happens when you try to lead with your weak hand? Those grilling gloves are good because they let you choose the grip/angle of your hand - we have some for outside.
