DD+ bra with no fastening

I’ve broken my elbow and it looks like it could be months before I can fasten hook & eye on my usual bras.

For the past six weeks I’ve either had to ask someone else to fasten my bra or make do with a hopeless Sloggi crop top I took a punt on (really thin and unsupportive) or having a bra extender to make the band wide enough to get over my head (which then means it’s not supportive).

My usual size is 30ff or 32f.

Any ideas?

Molke. They're fantastic.

Forestcantrun · 02/03/2021 20:18

Sorry to hear about your elbow OP.
I'm 32ff and wear an M&S "medium support sports bra". It is certainly not fit for running but it does the job for walking etc. It is pull on. Looks well under clothes.

Are you in a long arm cast at 90degrees or in a sling? I recommend patients in a long arm buy very cheap sports bras from Amazon as they tend to be easier to pull up rather than on.

Another idea is a front fastening sports bra. They tend to be quite flattening of the boob though.

I like molke but I don't think they are any easier to put on to be honest. Esp post shower.
Front fastening a good shout...

Spanx do an amazing front fastening one now bralallujah but they are so popular they are all sold out.

Chimoia · 02/03/2021 20:34

What about a tankini top

ScribblingPixie · 02/03/2021 20:36

I just bought this in a M & L after a recommendation on here. I'm 32F and the L would be ok for a 32 FF. It's supportive and comfortable, quite thick fabric. You have to put it on over your head & it's very stretchy - not sure what your elbow will make of that.

Front fastening bras are your friend. This one is more attractive than the M&S Zip front sports bras, but they do keep everything in well!

I have a Bravissimo Zara Bralette. It does have fastenings but I can step into it and put it on that way, which I had to do when I had a shoulder issue.

There's no way I could have wrestled myself into a Molke!

I wear this OP. nutmeg.morrisons.com/en/gry-seam-free-crop-top. Very soft and comfortable. It has removeable pads. I wash it at 40 degrees and have sometimes tumbled it. I actually have two. It does give some support. I am 40C.

Molke won’t be any good with a broken elbow. The bands are tight and take some contorting to get into.

Ah - lovely to return to my thread and see lots of helpful responses. Thank you.

I’ll work my way through these suggestions now.

@Forestcantrun - I’m now in a ‘range of movement’ brace that allows a little straightening. It’s set at 90 - 45 degrees currently. The doctor mentioned something about the brace coming off at my appointment later this week which is a terrifying prospect at only 6 weeks post surgery (I was in a 90 degree cast until 4 weeks).

I have found I can manoeuvre myself into the Sloggi crop top ok by putting my bad arm in first then putting it over my head after that.

My backside is too enormous to pull any bra up over it as, although my frame is small on my upper half, I am chunky of thigh/bottom!

I'm not sure I'd manage the front fastening bras as I can't get my left hand to my boobs so I'd be absolutely one-handed doing any fastening. Can anyone tell me if this is possible one handed?

@ScribblingPixie

Thanks for the link. I’ve ordered a couple of these in different sizes to try.

Also gave me an excuse to buy DD a couple of bits (I like TU clothes for DD) to justify the delivery cost!

Fingers crossed you can manoeuvre it on. I've got a small frame too & think I could do it single handed.

Forestcantrun · 03/03/2021 20:26

@INeedNewShoes it is scary coming out of immobilisation but you'll only be taken out if your orthopaedic team are happy about your healing. It will take a few days to get used of being "free" but have plenty of pain relief about and when your physio exercises are given just do what you're told, don't overdo it. It will take time.
Those Sainsburys tops look 👌 and do not be afraid of leaving it on for a day or two. You can wash round it for a day or two.
