At my wits end with 7yo answering back

Can anyone help? My 7yo answers me and dh back incessantly. Every single time we say you didn't do this she starts ranting on and on about how she did do it but in a very annoying whiny or shouting voice.
We have tried nicely explaining this is unacceptable because xyz then we tried disciplining such as time out.
We've then outright lost our tempers and ended up shouting back which obviously is not ideal.
But it's on going and I'm really getting annoyed by it all now. It's so rude and she speaks in a way I find unacceptable by anyone let alone my own dd.

Hi there, sorry to hear your problems. The best thing you can do in imo is to be really clear and enforce this so. In our family we don't do whining, shouting or answering back it is not ok. The minute she kicks off tell her if you can't talk to me normally then I am not listening, go to your room and think about what you are doing. If she's answering back tell her point blank you are not interested, what you say goes...send to room to think about it. If she is rude, ask her who do you think you are to talk to me like that, it is not ok, go to your room and think about it.etc, etc Reassert your authority, model what is ok and don't engage with the problem behaviour.....good luck.

I am here...
Yes I do discipline I think the biggest issue has been dh being home and very lax on discipline whereas I'm the opp and quite 'strict' so now they answer me back and stare at dh to see what happens.
Rather infuriating.
Yes @BrownEyedGirl80 it's that kind of thing I feel like I actually have a teenager in the house not a 7yo. I'm hoping school will help resolve it when dd realises the whole world doesn't revolve around her although I suppose for her it probably does right now
