Does anyone else do this or am I a big baby?

I am somewhere around 40 years old and still have my childhood teddy bears on my bed Grin. I just never got rid of them and they are still happy reminders of my (much) younger years.

I'm not sure they necessarily add up to my adult self, and they are swiftly hidden whenever DP and I are in the mood.

Do other people have theirs? I don't really, even when there isn't a pandemic, hang round my friends bedrooms anymore so no chance of sneaking a peek! BearBearBear

Can’t get into bed at my mum’s house (81) without throwing a selection on the floor. Drives me nuts 😁

My old DCat used to cuddle up to me in bed every night so after she died I struggled to sleep without that companion next to me. My 45 year old childhood teddy has replaced her and I now can't sleep without him!

We have a collection of both mine and DP's cuddly toys in our spare room but we tidy them away when DNs come to stay - they're too precious to us to be cuddled by a 6 year old! Grin

I still have Big Ted, he's actually a normal sized teddy who I've had since I was a baby and he's still very loved. He now lives on a shelf in my bedroom. He's very delicate so can't be cuddled much anymore. I'd never thought about after I'm gone so like other posters I might ask he gets cremated with me.

Also love how everyone else has 'cuddlies' as I've never heard anyone other than family call them this before.

I have my daughters first teddy too but she was never quite as attached as I am to mine.

I’m 31, and my beloved Holly Hobbie lived on a shelf in my bedroom until last month when DD moved into her big crib in her own room - she’s now graduated up to being snuggled again and it makes me very happy Grin

40 here, I have one but his ears and eyes fell off so he is in a box somewhere. God I love/loved him though!

I have another one that was given to me in adulthood by DF who still thinks I am six so that hovers around the bedroom in various places.

I also have a black and white blanket that my parents bought overseas in the 1970s. I still get it out every year. I wrote a final will and testament when I was eight which stated I wanted to be buried in it.

Aww reading these...

I'm going to find Pod the Dog and give him a shelf Grin.

I have my teddy that my mum bought when she was pregnant with me and so he's very special to me but I wouldn't have him in the bed, no. He sits on a shelf in the living room so he isn't hidden away but I do find the thought of adults with lots of teddies in their beds slightly odd (sorry)...but hey, whatever makes you happy!

the80sweregreat · 02/03/2021 17:27

I had my childhood bear fixed by a lovely lady in Dorset as he had lost his glass eye ( i had to send him off in the post) and he is now pride of place in the conservatory all fluffy and clean. She did a wonderful job!
I love my bear.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/03/2021 17:51

I'm 39 and got teddies and cabbage patch kids in my room.

speakout · 02/03/2021 17:54

I find it a little creepy.

But each to their own.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/03/2021 17:54

When my sister went travelling, I slept with her teddy on my bed.

CazM2012 · 02/03/2021 18:01

I still have my childhood bear but he has to sit on a shelf as I’m pretty sure he would disintegrate if he was touched too much. He was well used! I also have quite a few my DH and DC have bought me Blush and yes I arrange them on the bed when I make it.
I didn’t always, my youngest DD is teddy mad, it helps us connect, talk about them, share something (she is 4 and different to my other DC no diagnosis as she’s barely made it to nursery for them to assess)

oohmyback · 02/03/2021 18:04

I had mine until I lived in with my dh (we weren't married then) all previous boyfriends had to put up with them lol. I still have them but now they live under the bed.

HeronLanyon · 02/03/2021 19:37

alwayslatte awww that’s not odd at all. When my lovely old ma died I found my baby/childhood ‘blankly’. I took that to bed for a couple of nights - comforting.

EyeDrops · 02/03/2021 19:48

33 and I sleep with my Teddy still. My arms just feel wrong and uncomfortable without him there. DH's sits on the bedside table. Obviously he gets moved for adult times but I struggle to sleep without him!

Both our DDs get offered one of our teddies if they're very upset, but they have plenty of their own. Interestingly DD1 isn't really bothered at all, but DD2 has attached to one that she's inseparable from for sleeping.

Curlygirl06 · 02/03/2021 20:18

My teddy has been repaired many times and has mis matched eyes and holes, so she's had to be sewn into a jumper as otherwise the stuffing would fall out. My koala that I made at 12 sits on a shelf in the spare room with her.

We moved a million times when I was younger and that's the only things from my childhood that I have left and that wasn't thrown away when we moved. They're going nowhere.

louise5754 · 02/03/2021 20:27

No. My dd8 asked if I slept with a teddy when I was younger but I said I can't remember. Her and dd10 will definitely remember their teddies

Shelleyjelly80 · 02/03/2021 22:44

@TinySongstress I've got that bear!! He is called Apple ted in our house and is now in the care of my daughter. Although I will admit to having a squeeze of him every so often ☺️

Shelleyjelly80 · 02/03/2021 22:45

Oh and he still squeaks!

Backupthebus · 02/03/2021 23:10

Oh ours ( yes, he’s a joint companion to both of us) sleeps with us and has travelled the world with us. I’ve also stated he joins me in being cremated.

He is removed for “adult themed” activities and hidden from view should we have house guests.

MargaretThursday · 03/03/2021 00:22

My teddy is sitting with my gran's teddy, that was always on her bed, on a chair in the lounge. Is that acceptable?
