Physics for beginners?

Suddenly have a great interest in physics and astrophysics in particular and want to do some learning about this subject.
Where to begin?
Best books for a basic knowledge on physics? (Considered getting an A - Level AQA book)

This isn't going to be a career or a university degree, it's just something that's peaked my interest and I want to know more about and learn instead of watching TV on a night when DS is asleep, actually use my brain for once.

Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil de Grasse Tyson.
I can’t personally recommend it as it’s on my ‘to be read’ pile but it seems very highly rated.

Maybe start with the BBC www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/subjects/zxyb4wx

The ou do some free taster stuff I think

Trying to learn from a book will be tricky- I bet there's lectures and stuff on YouTube

Good luck!

You could listen to the Infinite Monkey Cage podcast.

It's not all physics and space science, but a lot of it is, which is as expected as it's got Brian Cox in it.

Khan Academy would be a good place to start - they go up to US high school I think.

OK - it starts with high school physics and continues into College phisics 1 and 2.

High school in the US is equivalent to years 10-13 in the UK.
