Sally in the woods, is it all tosh or a spooky place?

Ive gone down a bit of a rabbit hole about Sally in the woods, ive never been and the stories have fascinated me,
The bit that creeps me out the most is the rumours that birds don't sing there is tbat true? im. fascinated, any personal tales, welcome Grin xx

Spooky tales about a lady called Sally in a wood near Bradford on Avon. Load of tosh. The birds do sing there, I spent most of my teenage years playing hookey round those parts.

Don't some of the underground tunnels run near there? We used to go to the ones by five ways when we were teenagers. - urban exploring before it had a name 😂

They are pretty interesting the history behind them and all the spooky stories. I went last week for a midnight walk was good fun.

There's a wood near us where someone keeps nailing baby dolls to trees, the dolls are daubed with red paint to look like they're bleeding.

I thought the Sally in the Wood story came from a battle in the civil war between the Roundheads and the Royalists with Sally meaning fight?
