Soup makers - are they worth it?

I already have an electric pressure cooker/multi cooker but like the idea of a machine that even blends it for you

If you have one, do you use it regularly or is it s bit of a gimmick?

I had one but passed it on to a friend as I prefer to use a pot and stick blender.

I make soup twice a week and like to freeze some so I found it didn't really hold enough and it didn't really save on time/effort. Was just taking up space here tbh.

Some of us can’t manage a saucepan and a stick blender. That’s why my children bought me a soup maker.

Well, I've taken the plunge and ordered one.... here's hoping for some nice soup based lunches next week!

Mine was a great buy. You'll be amazed at how easy it is to use up leftover veg @SquigglePigs - no more feeling guilty as you put a wilting carrot into the food waste bin because you're too tired to cook it 'properly'.

Use it most days in the winter, I have found the best results by adding boiling water to start it off rather than cold as mine suggests in the instructions.

I love mine and use it at least once a week, often more. It’s so quick and easy.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 03/03/2021 19:10

I can't stand loads of electrical gadgets to store, put away, clutter up the worktop, so am very happy with a pan and a stick blender.

LApprentiSorcier · 03/03/2021 19:15

If you're short of space, a compact soup maker is about the same size as a kettle and makes a litre of soup at a time.

hobbyiscodefordogging · 03/03/2021 19:21

I love mine. It's just a basic kettle style one but blends really consistently. I've got an upgrade arriving soon which has more functions and settings.

Erictheavocado · 03/03/2021 19:30

Love mine. I've had it a few years now and wouldn't want to be without it. After years of using a pan and stick blender, the liberation was wonderful. It's a great way to use up odds and ends of vegetables etc.

goingtotown · 03/03/2021 19:30

I didn’t get on with my Morphy Richards Soupmaker. It’s not non stick & so noisy when it’s on the blending setting setting. Prefer a large saucepan & stick blender.

LApprentiSorcier · 03/03/2021 19:38

Nothing sticks to mine because it's all floating in the stock but I've seen a tip to put oil in the bottom if you are having an issue with anything sticking.

I'm really looking forward to trying it! That's an excellent point about leftover veg @LApprentiSorcier. We used to have guinea-pigs who were a great repository for leftover veg but sadly we lost the last one in the summer.
