Pillow at 15 months?

Mylittlesandwich · 01/03/2021 19:20

DS has a stinking cold and I was going to buy him a small toddler type pillow to raise his head in the hopes he slept better but I don't want to go against safe sleep guidance.

He's in a cot rather than a cot bed. He's in his sleeping bag and other than that has a clear cot. Would the pillow be unsafe?

We used to put books under the legs of the top end of the cot to elevate ours when they were that age.

I used pillows from 12 months onwards.

The minimum age is 12 months, he’ll be fine.

12 month onwards is fine and much more comfy I think !

I think as long as you dont get one with a pillow case that could slip off and end up in a tangle, itll be fine.

Thank you everyone, it's unanimous. I've just ordered a more firm breathable foam one that I feel more comfortable with.

NHS and lullaby trust guidelines say over 12 months for a thin toddler pillow. If raising the end of the bed slightly doesn't help you could always put the pillow under the mattress cover if you're worried about it being loose?

We did raise the bed last night, it didn't seem to make much of a difference. I went for the clevamama toddler pillow so it's smaller and flat. I'll try that out when it arrives and we'll see. If it doesn't work for him now we'll use it later so it's not like it's money wasted.
