Large lump on groin area

Kerry00 · 01/03/2021 07:59

I have noticed a large lump on my left side of groin were bikini line would be. It is very very painful! Sore to walk, turn around when I'm in bed, anything that means I have to move. Its not coming to a head and have got antibotics but it seems to be getting larger again and much more painful. The pain is unbearable

Presumably if you have ABs you've been to a GP? How long have you been taking them?

If it doesn't go away by the time you finish the abs, then you'll have to go back to the GP.

Hot compresses and magnesium sulphate may draw it to a head.

Phone the doctor again when they open - it's probably mother to worry about but call and make an appointment as antibiotics aren't working (assuming you've been taking them for this issue for at least 2-3 days)

*nothing (not mother)

I get these fairly regularly. Have done for about 20 years. Magnesium sulphate and hot compresses as advised above normally do it. Randomly, banana peel, inside part down, applied to the area and left over night has also been effective. Look out for signs of infection. I did have to have an emergency a&e dash due to one once. But that had gotten really quite badly infected. But as you're on antibiotics I imagine that's not an issue.

I also get them regularly as I have HS. Hot baths can help and warm compresses, avoid wearing knickers or anything that rubs and keep an eye out for redness spreading

How large is large? Could it be a hernia for example?
