C section overhang: anyone completely got rid of it?

I've got down to a size 10, my BMI is 20. My stomach is fairly flat in general, but I still have the overhang.

I've been doing a '30 day abs' program, and although I can't see any abs my stomach has improved.

Has anyone ever completely got rid of their overhang? Is it actually possible?

I feel like I could be a size 6 (not what I actually want!) and still have the overhang.

Wasn’t there a Q&A here a few years ago with Jillian Michaels and someone asked her for exercise tips on how to shift it - her only response was to learn to love it as it won’t go naturally and embrace it as a sign of being a Mother!!
Alternatively mine went via a second c-section where as part of the op they tidied it up a lot and also completely got rid of the scar tissue.

No. My Dc are 23, 20 and 19 All c sections.
All my babies were over 9lbs and I'm tiny at 5ft. I gained quite a bit of weight that was mostly fluid retention in all 3 pregnancies.
Even after my first baby and serious diet and exercise program with a health and fitness instructor the flab took ages to lift off my tummy. Infact I looked more ridiculous 18 months later because I'd slimmed down and tobed up everywhere and although my tummy had reduced it was still out of proportion with the rest of me. So I had flab and an overhang from baby number.
I'm.now 19 years on from my last pregnancy. I've tried everything bar surgery. I've spent stupid money on personal trainers etc. Spent my entire 30s living on lettuce and little else.
I'm still sporting a saggy tragic bike over hang. 2 different GPs have told me as kindly as possible, its never going to go without the help of a surgeons knife.

Grin my typos. There are no bikes involved in my overhang.

Bikes = vile......thank you auto correct!!Hmm

I had it years ago
Only thing that got rid of it was a mini tummy tuck and Lipo

Meant to add that even if I put on a bit of weight ( which I do ) my stomach always stays quite flat and hard

Had 3 sections, the last one being 10 years ago, never managed to get rid im afraid

pcmcgregor · 28/02/2021 23:49

Had three sections, no overhang after the first two, one was emergency, one was planned. Third planned section and I now have the overhang. I'm ridiculously skinny so it's only a slight overhang but it's there and it's frustrating because there's nothing I can do about it, I think it's definitely down to the surgeon.

I've had 3 c-sections and ended up with an overhang. The more weight I lost the worse it got....the empty skin hung lower with less fat. You can't exercise loose skin away. I had a tummy tuck in the end. Best thing I ever did!

grassisjeweled · 01/03/2021 00:49

Yeah, another sorry but no, op. I've had 2 sections and still have the overhang. I'm past caring to be honest, I didn't get any stretch marks, tum looks fine in a bikini, no way I'd risk surgery to get rid of it.

aurynne · 01/03/2021 01:46

Midwife here. The issue with CS overhangs is what type of tissue is involved: if muscle and fat, then it is possible to get rid of it with exercise/diet. However many CS overhangs are made of excess skin and overstretched ligaments, and these can not be naturally reversed, they need surgery.

OP, I do recommend you to go see a surgeon who could make a plan for your specific case. They often offer free consultation.

SIL's oldest is 7 and she's a PT- never got rid of it until she had a tummy tuck. She only had it done because clients don't trust a PT with a little pooch apparently, despite her having very defined abs. Hers was quite pronounced because she was pregnant with twins and because of where they cut her, and after she lost one baby she didn't do any workouts for a while, not sure if that affects it though.

cultkid · 01/03/2021 03:21

I had two sections

I put on a lot of weight with my second baby

I have nearly lost all the weight but I am very small somewhere around 45-47kg depending on how much I'm eating exercising etc stress

I don't have an overhang at all I have a line that is a bit tender but it is flush on both sides if that makes sense

Might be that I was 23 and 26 when I had my sections

rockinaftermidnite · 01/03/2021 04:34

I had a tummy tuck to get rid of mine.

SomethingbeginningL · 01/03/2021 06:53

I think it is fixable. I had an overhang after my first (emergency).

After my second the surgeon said she would try and 'tidy' my scar tissue that was causing the overhang/keloid scar.

Also I have had scar subcision. (Needle used to sever/release the tethered tissue)

I have also done some massage on it to help break apart the tethered tissue myself)

Whilst the scar subcision and massage have helped, I think the original surgical method that the Dr did after my 2nd c section helped the most.

SomethingbeginningL · 01/03/2021 06:54

*sorry I should clarify.
I had a 2nd, planned c section. The Dr said she would try to be a bit more careful and tidy up the scar tissue that had formed after my emergency.
I haven't had surgery to fix the scarring/overhang. But I'm sure there must b

Lollyneenah · 01/03/2021 06:55

Disclaimer - I didn't have much loose skin - it was a scar tissue/fat tissue overhang.
I got rid of mine by quite aggressively rubbing in bio oil, a full ab work out every single day for about a year, and a waist trainer.
If I put so much as half a stone on it comes back. Tbh I wish I'd just taken that year to learn to accept it rather than stressing myself out about it
