Is there any profit in owning a set of Harry Potter props these days?

Asking for a friend (genuinely! This sort of stuff is lost on me)

I have a friend who has worked a bit in events in the past and since lockdown is working from home part time in an admin team. Not sure how relevant any of this to the following!

A contact of hers who used to do festivals or similar has a collection of Harry Potter set stuff for sale (e.g. the trunks, broom sticks) that could be used for photo or party back drops. She is now thinking of buying this equipment to hire out for parties/weddings/fan events etc.

I'm sceptical (but then, as I've said not my area) as not only has JKR seemingly fallen out of fashion but people can seem to add in the effects themselves these days, or would be willing to pay something. And the copywright would seem to be an issue too I think!

HP is always going to be crazy popular. However JKR is insanely rich because she indeed has copyright on anything named HP - from toothbrushes to toilet rolls. So if your mate were to advertise them as 'wizarding props' or some such, that would probably be a safer bet.
