Threadworm... Please help

I discovered my dd had threadworm 4 nights ago, we got treatment the next day for all the family (myself, hubby, DD and DS), no one else seemed to have symptoms and we didn't see any in dd's poo just she asked me to check her bum as she could feel movement and that's when I saw 2 of them. As I say we've all had treatment, all beds have been changed, mattresses hoovered and fresh bedding on, all towels, teddies etc washed. Every morning for 4 days I have hoovered the sheets and duvets when we all get up (it's impossible to change bedding every day and keep up with all the washing) I give the woodwork, all surfaces, door handles, light switches etc a wet dusting, full house hoovered, couch hoovered and all wooden floors mopped. Every morning the full household gets showers and a good bum cleaning, fresh underwear, fresh towel everyday and no towel sharing. Every night fresh underwear and pj's bottoms on. I am feeling crazy with all the cleaning and worrying about re-infection, I feel really anxious all the time and driving myself and hubby crazy. I have 2 days until I'm back to work after a holiday and I don't know if I can keep up the cleaning routine to the same standard when I'm back at work as it takes a good 90mins or so to do which is fine on my days off but hard when I'm back at work. My question is how long should I keep this routine up for to make sure they go away and don't get re-infected? I plan on changing all beds on Tuesday so 6 days after I last changed them, is this enough??

Lastly, I haven't seen any in my own poo but I thought I could feel them although thought maybe it was all in my head with the anxiety. Although today when going for a pee I saw 3 wee white bits floating in the pan and I think I may have peed them, should I be worried? Is this just the medicine working to get rid of everything? Should I call my Dr?

I am so paranoid and worried and read loads of stuff on the Internet about people living with them for years and not getting rid of them. I'm so worried.

Please help any advice would be appreciated, also any one confirm they have successfully eradicated the wee buggers first time round after medicine and cleaning???

Make sure you all take the second dose too. I alway give us a third dose a week after the second to be extra sure.

It's OK! You do not need to go this nuts about threadworm, or clean this much! It is not Ebola! These threadworm and allergy cleaning instructions are generally written by men who don't have to do much cleaning! Threadworms generally go if:

Your strip the beds and wash all the towels at 60C or hotter if this is possible, on the day you take the first tablet. You do not have to do it every day.
Everyone takes the tablets 10 days apart.
Everyone is a bit better about hand washing.
Everyone tries not to bite nails and pick noses so much.
You wipe bathroom handles a bit more often.
You all have your own towels and flannels moving forwards. Allocate or buy a different colour theme for each family member so they know whose is which. This is good practice anyway.
Change nightwear daily or wear pants to bed and change those daily for the duration of the attacks (10 days).

They will not be in your bladder so don't worry about that. You probably saw toilet paper crumbs.
if you over wash bottoms you will irritate the skin and get the same itching, so be careful not to go mad.
Piriton at night helps with the itching.
All will be fine.
Keep a spare dose of the tablets in your medicine cupboard because the evil ones will return and this takes the stress out of the next invasion.
Pretty much all the above applies to nits as well, with added nit combing and keeping a bottle of nit medicine in the house. although combing works on its own, and doing it every Sunday makes sure the buggers can't really take hold.

Also adults often need a double dose for it to work. In other countries the medicine is prescribed by weight.

There’s absolutely no need for this extra washing and clean. Just take medication including extra dose and make sure dd washes her hands regularly especially in the morning. You can’t catch it that easily from each other and you definitely can’t pee it Hmm it’s usually caught from playing outside in the dirt and putting hands in mouth. It’s really common in kids and easy to get rid off... stop panicking your giving yourself extra work you don’t need Smile

We had these as kids. And then my kids had them.
Just take the medication and make sure hand washing is done well after using the toilet.

Thanks ladies, for some reason it's easier to accept I'm over reacting when it comes from other mums who have experienced the same issues. Usually my mum is my fountain of knowledge but my sister and I never had these as kids so my mum was as clueless as me. It's not something I wanted to ask other mum friends and everything I read online seemed to be horror stories from mums who had lived with them for years without being able to get rid of them so I got myself into a mess.

My poor hubby deserves a medal for putting up with me over the past few days as I've been like a crazy woman.

Thanks for putting me right 👍
