Period Pants

I've recently started my periods again a year after baby no 2.

I've always used tampons but they are no longer comfortable. I've seen period pants often mentioned on threads here and would like to give them a go but I've a few questions...

What brand would you recommend?

How often do you need to change your period pants? Is it just the same as how frequently you change a towel / tampon?

Any other tips or advice?

I'd have a light/moderate flow.

Thank you!

I have the bonds brand (in australia) I change them 3-4 times a day, depending on flow. No leaks, no hassles. Put them all in the wash that night on rinse.

I have seen Modi Bodi mentioned on here but not tried them.
If you google period pants they will come up.
Loads on Amazon.

I have Modi Bodi ones and they’re great. I got heavy flow just to cover all eventualities

Teenage DD uses these mainly because she hates changing pads at school and also worries about leaking. She found cheeky wipes better than the cheaper ones that Sainsbury's sell. She can have a heavy flow so we have just ordered modibody for heavy flow after seeing they good reviews. At home she changes them whenever she needs to, at school she wears them with a pad which she removes at lunchtime. Washing is no problem and they dry in the airing cupboard overnight

Thanks for your replies.

I love the Bonds Australia baby grows when you can find them over here.

I've looked on Amazon & a brand called Innersy comes up lots. It does have good reviews but I'm still dubious after buying a child's foot measure on Amazon last year which measured my child's feet 2 sizes smaller than she currently was wearing!

I wish there were period pants for when I was at school. I was always so self conscious that people could see or hear the scrunching of the pad.

I use modi body and gave a heavy flow. I wear all day. They are great

CimCardashian · 28/02/2021 08:02

Wuka and Modibodi seem to be mentioned a lot.

I could have really done with these when I was a teenager!

I don’t have periods (coil) so no personal experience.

levoyager67 · 28/02/2021 08:02

I use wuka. ...They are brilliant and very very comfortable. I get heavy flow..use them even on a light day.

pipsqueakbollock · 28/02/2021 08:03

Dd has wuka
They have 10% off I think at moment in their basics brands.
She a size 8 and has S bikini cut
She wears them at night

Preech · 28/02/2021 08:16

DSD and I use Wuka. I find my pair handy for heavy days. She finds hers handy for night. It took a little getting used to because it feels a bit wetter (I know, yuck), but also way fewer cramps and thrush!

I've been considering modibodi or cheeky wipes for my next pair. I was impressed to see some of the brands have sizing for younger girls (firstborn DD might end up being an early bloomer like some other women in the family ... if she does, I think she'll get on better with special pants). And saw modibodi does period swimwear, which is a godsend when your kid hates tampons and won't give a cup the time of day.

minniemoocher · 28/02/2021 08:16

Modibodi are good. Assuming you do plenty of laundry, you need enough for 2 days - heavy flow ones last similar amount of time to a super plus tampon so how many would you need a day, varies for us all. I only needed 3 pairs (actually 1 pair now as I have a mirena). You can supplement with either a reusable or disposable pad if one day is very heavy or you can't wash etc. I suggest buying 4-6 pairs to start, you have young kids so I doubt the washing machine stops! Sainsbury's have their own brand btw

minniemoocher · 28/02/2021 08:19

@Preech

My dd has the swimwear and exercise leggings, but old me they are brilliant - I've just ordered the leggings (alas not for the purpose they are designed but because my bladder doesn't like exercise!

strawbmilk · 28/02/2021 13:57

Thanks for all the replies. Really helpful.

I'll definitely check out modi body and wuka.

Yep, 2 toddlers so I have the washing machine on every day. It's not just their clothes, they constantly manage to smear something over my clothing that I might otherwise get an extra wear out of 😂

Interesting about fewer cramps as I've really been suffering since starting back up again. More so than ever before.

It'll be good to try these out as well for prep for DD as I'm sure before I know it she'll start hers. I was only 10 when I started mine
