I can tell you it's simplified Chinese characters. You can't tell the language (Mandarin/ Cantonese) by the characters as they don't correspond directly to pronunciation.

The third character in the first two means 'chicken' - I always think it looks quite like a little chicken looking to the right!

I lived in China for a while and absolutely love the language and the food. Enjoy your takeaway!

I've always wanted to learn Cantonese. It is written with traditional characters in Hong Kong, though I believe it is written with simplified in the rest of mainland China. Cantonese also has its own unique characters but usually it is written in standard Chinese without these.

As a Japanese speaker (which also used traditional characters), I always find the traditional forms more pleasing on the eye. Simplified on the left:

语 vs 語, 饭 vs 飯, 书 vs 書, 兴 vs 興, 飞 vs 習

Worst of all is 爱 vs 愛! The character means "love" and the part they took away means "heart" (心).
