Best Edinburgh hotels?

Hi all,
Would love to book Edinburgh for a few nights in summer for my partner’s big birthday. Looking for a pretty fabulous hotel as we’re not risking going abroad this year. Any recommendations? Thank you!

Yes I have been to both although a while ago so maybe some more recent visitors will post.

Witchery food fabulous.

Lumene · 26/02/2021 15:45

Witchery is more central if you want to be easilywalking to and around some of the more central/nicer bits.

The Balmoral is really lovely. Sorry I don’t know how to hyperlink on my phone! www.roccofortehotels.com/hotels-and-resorts/the-balmoral-hotel/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4ZPu-vGH7wIV5ejtCh2W_gbGEAAYASAAEgIJuPD_BwE

The Balmoral or The Caledonian if you want city centre. Have stayed at both several times, both great. The Glasshouse used to be good but I think it's gone downhill a bit recently, sadly. (Last stayed there about 18 months ago.)

The Scotsman is meant to be nice since the refurb but I haven't been so I can't vouch for it.

Witcher’s rooms are incredible, I loved it. I wouldn’t eat there again though, the restaurant is lovely inside but service and food definitely lacking. Lots of friends have been similarly underwhelmed.

House of gods is getting a good reputation although I haven’t stayed yet.

Prestonfield house is lovely.

I’d always choose gleneagles although an hour away.

RunAwayNow · 26/02/2021 16:37

Agree Balmoral or Caledonian. Agree with pp that the Glasshouse seems to have gone downhill.

The Waldorf

100% the Sheraton. Central, amazing bar, great food and my most favourite spa ever!!!! (And I go to a lot of spa’s)

Crookairroad · 26/02/2021 18:59

Balmoral (best afternoon tea if you like that), the Caledonian or the Sheraton. The George is also good.

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/02/2021 19:07

Yup, the George (on George Street) is lovely, and very central.

Alternatively, it's not fabulous as such but we stayed at the Premier Inn off Princes Street a few years ago. Pretty nice by Prem standards but location for price was staggering .... literally round the corner from the action and you could roll across the road to catch your train. And some lovely places for coffee and breakfast close by.

I loved Edinburgh OP, hope you have a great time x

Mmr224 · 26/02/2021 19:34

Ten hill place, award winning chefs, refurbished last year DK lovely rooms and still fairly central. Have both stayed and eaten, and attended weddings there

ChrissyPlummer · 26/02/2021 19:46

The Scotsman - central, next to the station. The restaurant is gorgeous as well.

isseys4xmastinselcats · 26/02/2021 20:39
