Has anyone used a PC remote checking service to check their computer?

My PC seems to be struggling. It's two years old and out of warrantee. I'm not very technical and I'd like someone to take a look.

I'd like to use a service that can do that remotely (ie dial into my PC and run some checks), but -I am also worried about any potential security issues from using such a service.

Has anyone done this? .

What tasks exactly is it struggling with?

Turning on?
Loading programs?
Opening a new webpage?

Hi, it just goes slowly sometimes. Full disclosure it's actually my sons PC so I'm not fully sure of the issue.

It's a gaming PC so we thought speed would not be an issue.

He's noticed today that when he opened Chrome with one tab open, there were 70 processes running!

You can do standard anti spyware checks.

Get him to download and run CCleaner.
www.ccleaner.com/download

Uninstall any unused programs

And check what's loading in start up

Thank you. I'm worried about breaking it somehow if I do it myself, hence the idea to pay for someone who really knows what they are doing to help me!

How old is your son? Could you get him involved and maybe watch a YouTube video of how to clean up using cc cleaner?

How much hard drive is free? That was the recent cause of my pc slowing down. Full of games cache nonsense.

In addition to what’s been advised already I’d clear temp files, delete cache, remove all browsing history on all browsers.

I really really would be careful allowing people access to the PC (I used to access people’s PCs remotely as part of a tech support job and customers used to tell me some awful stories).

Points 2, 3, 4 and 7 are a good place to start (assuming it’s a windows):

I agree that allowing someone remote access to your pc is very risky business and shouldn't be done unless an absolute last resort or someone you really trust. Most of those companies are scams. I won't even give them my password when I send it off for repair.

Download and run Malwarebytes to start with and let it delete anything it finds. Ccleaner is good for clearing junk and unnecessary registry clutter but be careful what boxes you check. I'd just leave it as the default settings if you don't know what you're doing as they can't do any damage.
