Is Bringing Up Baby the most wonderful comedy ever made?

I think so.

I noticed it was on a few days ago and so we just watched it on iPlayer tonight. What a treat it is. Snappy one liners, tight little set pieces and all building up to a sustained farce of monumental proportions. Watching Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn sing to a leopard that's sat on a roof while holding a small dog with both animals howling has got to be one of the most glorious scenes of all time for me.

Anyone else love it? Or any other old films?

Yes it's fabulous, shame about the sound on some of these old films though.
It happened one night, and it adore the original lady killers, stunning film, the finesse of the script and contrast of the delicate seemingly little old frail lady and these big burly gangsters under her thumb.

All of these are wonderful. I remember seeing them for the first time when I was quite young and being utterly enchanted.

I just watched Mr Blandings Dream House, Carey Grant. Was on BBC2 today. Loved it! Watched To Catch A Thief not so long ago too, old movies are just great.

OP, you might like Pillow Talk with Rock Hudson and Doris Day. I love it! Will have a look at Bringing Up Baby.

Yes the sound is quite poor. I don't really mind though because it feels like a different experience from watching a more recent film anyway. I mean, those older films, I always think they're more like a presentation, at one remove, like you're not supposed to get too close to them.

I love The Ladykillers, really very funny script. How odd to think that the woman in that was born in the 19th century. I haven't seen Pillow Talk or Mr Blandings in years, but I should. Thanks for the reminders!

So many Cary Grant comedies - His Girl Friday, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Philadelphia Story all have wonderful one liners.

And don't forget Some Like it Hot (with Tony Curtis doing a Cary Grant impression throughout)

Oh yes and To Catch A Thief is great too. Watched it a couple of months ago when it was on. So, so stylish.

I love Cary Grant films, Houseboat is my favourite. Loved watching Bringing Up Baby and Mr Blandings Builds His Dream on BBC2 this week

I've loved the old films on BBC2 on the afternoons this week, The Lady Vanishes was my favourite. Missed a couple so will check out IPlayer, thanks for the tip!
