Gazebo / garden shelter owners - can I ask a question?

I had a Coleman event shelter last year (which I dearly loved!)
Due to an unexpected bout of extremely windy weather, it got ripped to shreds, so I had to dispose of it.
My question is this:
If I secure the frame to the ground, and then attach the cover to the frame, would that be reasonably safe?
(I'd like to be able to take the cover off, without taking the whole thing down, but am wondering if it's a sensible way to do it.)

Sorry - can’t be of much help, but I can offer my sympathies as the same thing happened to our Coleman last year! I’m now starting to consider options for this year but not getting very far.

Hi @FlightOfTheCat, I've now bought an Amazon basics one which appears to be a replica of the Coleman one.
As you can imagine, I'm very nervous as I don't want to lose this one!

We have an old gazebo in our garden, we used it when we were allowed to meet 6 people outside, we had a fire pit and fairy lights oit there, it was very cosy! (Only 2 sides though)
We have screwed the frame into the concrete it stands on (an old concrete area in the garden) and also fixed guy ropes and it is still standing. We tied the sides back in high winds and have taken the cover off completely during this lockdown, it will go back on again for garden meet ups soon.
Hope that helps a bit.

In truth, the only sensible thing to do is to take it down and put it up again when you need it. It is after all, a shelter. I mean - a really useful one - but nevertheless it isn't designed to withstand storms or gusty, windy weather. You could leave it up for a while when the forecast promises a spell of calm weather, but they aren't designed to be outside rooms through the Winter.

Thank you, @frostymornings.
@BackforGood, the whole point of my post is that I'm thinking the frame itself should be safe enough?

It might not be "the look" that you'd want but we've got a heavy duty, 3m x 3m white marquee (it's from Gala Tents but I bought it off FB) up in our garden and the frame is screwed into the decking. It doesn't have the sides on so I suppose is like a gazebo. It's got outdoor festoon lighting under it and it's been up since last June! It is positioned in a sheltered spot but it's survived the winter without so much as a snag.

Thing is, I've already bought a replacement...
