AIBU to park 18mo DS in front of the TV all afternoon?

I'm feverish with a sharp sore throat and aching joints. Getting up makes me shiver and I feel knackered. We're isolating awaiting my covid result.

I'm at a loss. What do parents do? DH is around but is unable to stop working and watch her. I offer paints/kinetic sand and get screamed at.

Yep. As much TV time and biscuits as you need to survive!

savanahnana · 22/02/2021 14:56

Do it! I wouldn't even hesitate, I'm pregnant and have had days where I've stuck my two young children in front of the tv and bribed with snacks to sit still just so I can rest, needs must!I

Hope you feel better soon!

Of course not.

Please do get a Covid test too.

Of course YANBU. Even taking sickness out of it you can't spend 25 hours a day 8 days a week being Mrs Tumble. That's not bad or lazy parenting.
That's just life.

Scottishskifun · 22/02/2021 14:59

If you have got Disney plus then try winnie the pooh it manages to keep my toddlers attention if we are unwell

TipseyTorvey · 22/02/2021 15:04

Grin at Mrs Tumble. Goodness me OP, it's sad in the midst of this pandemic you should even have to ask. Drop the guilt, get the tea, biscuits and remote control to hand and have a dose.

TipseyTorvey · 22/02/2021 15:04

Dammit not biscuit at Mrs Tumble, I meant grin at Mrs Tumble!!!

LaPoesieEstDansLaRue · 22/02/2021 15:05

Of course it's not unreasonable. Seems 100% sensible to me. Hope you feel better soon.

halcyondays · 22/02/2021 15:08

What do parents do?
Put CBeebies on of course.

Quite frankly, you’d be mad to offer paints while feeling unwell.

Nearly nineteen years ago I got flu the day H went off on a conference. The two-year-old spent three days in front of the telly...

(He's off on a walk between lectures right now so it doesn't appear to have done him any harm)

Toocold · 22/02/2021 15:16

Yanbu, I remember it well and it’s like hell looking after a small one whilst ill. Tv can be a good thing at times and especially if you’re ill!

Hollyhead · 22/02/2021 15:21

One Christmas DH and I got struck down with flu at the same time, one afternoon we were resting and our almost 4 year old and 18 month old toddler snuck off together and managed to eat almost a whole tin of Quality Street! :D So don't feel too bad about a bit of TV! (they were fine, although there were a couple of 'interesting' nappies!

Scottishskifun · 22/02/2021 15:21

@Coffeeandaworry have you also booked a covid test? Fever is a main one but aching joints and sore throat has also been identified as symptoms by the zoe app.

WatchWatch · 22/02/2021 15:38

We're isolating awaiting my covid result.

Can people not read? It is literally in the OP!

Parent stick their kids in front of the TV and ply them with food! It's the only way. Do what you have to.

ShakeaHettyFeather · 22/02/2021 15:40

CBeebies for this situation is what the TV licence is for! Get well soon!
