To ask what you've done for successful and fun family gatherings on Zoom - there are thirty or forty of us and I would love ideas!

I realise I've just posted this in AIBU but I'm likely to get a more sensitive hearing here... so yes please I'd love any and all ideas for a fun family gathering on Zoom.

It's our first meet up since lockdown - we're used to meeting up, all of us in real life once a year or so for a gathering ... all ages from 9 months to 90, though most are 18-25 and 50-60. There are around thirty or forty of us, so I'm guessing around fifteen to twenty Zoom windows

So would love any ideas for structuring it - making it fun - making sure everyone feels heard and has a good time.

Have you done something similar? What did you do?

I suspect with that many, you'd need to do something a bit structured.

The obvious one is a Quiz, but I've also played bingo and one group "went to the races" where you can bet on pre-recorded horse or dog races. I've played quiz show games form the TV - where we were put in smaller groups and done rounds from things like Pointless and Countdown. Another event did a sort of 'generations game' challenge, where people were asked to do something a bit more physical, and one was 'creating an outfit out of wrapping paper' (we'd been asked to hang on to it, at Christmas.

I know "forced fun" and games isn't to everyone's liking, but I think it is too difficult to "just chat" with that many people.
I mean you could do something like a "Cracker joke" competition or get everyone to write limerick before hand. for 20mins or so.

Back great ideas ... thank you.

Totally agree about being structured and am digging out advice.

Think some structured and hopefully fun exchanging of info and views and a simple game that makes people laugh.... Rather like the idea of the Cracker joke competition. It is that kind of family - charades and Christmas cracker jokes part of the culture.
