Workplace covering up sexual harassment/assault to protect family member

The perpetrator has been fired. The victim has been asked to sign a confidentiality agreement and issued with a copy of the disciplinary agreement relating to confidentiality Hmm. She will not go to the police as she doesn’t want to cause trouble at work. Nobody else knows what has happened to the person who did it other than they just didn’t come into work one day. They are senior management.

My problem is that this person should rightly have a criminal record (exposure/performing sexual acts), they are free to go and work anywhere they want and do the same fucking thing and everyone is speculating about the firing and saying how awful it is around the victim who has to nod and agree. His wife works for our company too and the CEO has convinced the victim that she is an innocent victim and we need to protect her.

I only know because I was a witness to some of the behaviour and had to write a statement.

This is a disgrace isn’t it?

Does your friend want to carry on working there? Not sure I could. Morally, she should definitely report it to the police and ask if the CPS will press charges, but I understand her dilemma. I would urge her to report it, I think it’s important to protect potential further victims.

She doesn’t feel she has an option. She’s asked to switch department and been told they’ll think about it.
