Sick of the neighbours cats

I'm not a cat lover at the best of times but the neighbours cats are really getting on my wick.
They are so brazen and just do their business in the garden.. I've not lived in my property long and have so far had to clean up a multitude of cat excrement..
Today was the final straw when this morning the cat did a brazen number two on the patio and not even in the flower bed.
What is a humane cat deterrent. I've bought some citronella spray and granules as i have read that cats detest anything citrus.
Is there anything else I can try.. I get on reasonably well with my neighbours but I don't want to start anything by telling them.. Just v v v v sick of it.

Maybe co-sleeping with the cat will help?

Tell your neighbours. It doesn't have to be a thing, just mention it and ask if there's anyway the cats can be dissuaded from shitting in your garden (as a way of raising the topic). If it were my cats, I'd want to know.

You can get high pitched noise monitors- Worked for DB who had same issue!!

You can't stop cats from shitting in your garden., unless you keep them indoors 24/7.

It is about parenting, only not yours but your neighbours how they’ve brought up their cats.
there was a thread about it and the advice was to cut grass regularly to keep it short and to plant a particular type of grass, don’t remember unfortunately. Also the water pistol was mentioned.

On amazon search for defender jet spray. They're bloody brilliant. Doesn't need to be on permanently, but just a couple of weeks and the cat will find alternative arrangements. I love cats by the way but mine is elderly and stopped scaring the neighbours bully boys away.

Parenting cats??? Ha ha that's a new one.

Best approach is to deter cats from entering your garden. Get a dog.

Well it is the parenting board. Makes puuuurfect sense to me 🤷‍♂️

Our DD has befriended our neighbour's cat. Makes a big fuss of him. Since she started doing this it has stopped pooping in our garden. Apparently they don't do their business in their own territory.

We have a similar issue, and are thoroughly fed up. Googling the ultrasonic repellers now!

goochface · 21/02/2021 08:32

A good way to parent a cat that does this is to stop pocket money, maybe change the WiFi password and ultimately, no more Dreamies!

jay55 · 21/02/2021 10:00

In the past people have mentioned lion poo as a repellent. No idea if it works but it looks a fairly inexpensive experiment.

A plastic toy snake worked to deter my cat from my neighbours flat roof.
