Cost of new kitchen

If you’ve had a new kitchen in last few years, how much did it cost?
I mean new units/floor/appliances.
I know it’ll vary enormously depending on what you have but just wanted a rough idea.

Whatever you do get decent worktops and good fitters. Our house had a new kitchen when we bought it and three years on the worktops are splitting, the cupboard doors are dropping but we can’t afford to replace it yet.

Ilovechoc12 · 21/02/2021 09:18

Was quoted by howdens £21k (including a boot room) but went for something more expensive due to wanting wood in the end.
8 x 7 m

boymum9 · 21/02/2021 09:24

27k, it's gorgeous but in hindsight as this isn't a forever home I do feel we wasted money on it!

One wall kitchen (5m) and double island linked by breakfast bar is 17k excluding appliances.

Meruem · 21/02/2021 09:40

Obviously it depends what you can afford but if the cabinets are still good it seems a waste to pull them out. I was in the same situation and got a new floor, worktops, cupboard doors painted with new handles. Looks like a whole different kitchen but cost around 1k.

MiaowMiaow99 · 21/02/2021 10:07

Just make sure you think you can live with the tarted up version. We spent 4k doing that but it only lasted 4 years as theclayout was poor so have put in a new kitchen and layout. 13k excluding fitting costs (which were higher than normal due to relocating every appliance etc).

SpringisSpinning · 21/02/2021 10:46

How do you know if you have got good fitters until.. The kitchen is fitted and it lasts!

Op painting cupboard doors and a new work top and floor can make a huge difference.

£30K, 22ft kitchen units in L shape at one end then other end units surrounding American style fridge freezer. Island in the middle. New tiled flooring. Miele x2 ovens, extractor. Used existing hob and dishwasher as they were only 2 yrs old.
Oh also utility room, pair of base cupboards, sink.
Oak worktops
Granite on island reused from old kitchen

Saz12 · 21/02/2021 11:44

We’re replacing doors just now, because worktop and units are fine, and the layout works for us. Several doors on the old kitchen are cracked and the end panels are very damaged at the bottom.

We do t want to pay for an entirely new kitchen, and replacing fronts is a DIY job. Very roughly, the doors cost about £50 each, then £30 for each of plinth, end panels, corner posts, edging tape, handles etc).
We’ll replace appliances when they stop working properly.

If you’re replacing worktop and the doors then IMO youre as well to do the whole kitchen, as the actual units aren’t a big part of the cost.

RogueV · 21/02/2021 12:05

Ours was around £17K but it’s a big kitchen, included £3.5K for quartz worktops, Howdens top spec stuff, own appliances/sinks/taps etc which I sourced from online and Currys etc

Rockbird · 21/02/2021 12:10

Are any of these quotes above for galley kitchens or smallish three sided? We want to move this year but our kitchen is desperate. We'd just want a basic kitchen that wouldn't make prospective buyers cry!

MiaowMiaow99 · 21/02/2021 22:07

Mine for 13k was for a G shaped kitchen, so units to 3 sides and a peninsula.
6.7k was units only.

MsAnnFrope · 21/02/2021 22:26

We are getting quotes at the moment and they have varied from 9k to 19k! 15sqm of kitchen so not huge but we want quartz worktops and wood doors.

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 21/02/2021 22:57

6k for an update (painting cupboard doors, worktops, and a new island) Would have been 12k if we didn't reuse the existing cupboards too.

Libertyfree · 23/02/2021 20:42

Wow Thanks for all the replies.
We have got quality wooden units so maybe will do the worktops, floor etc option.
Did people get their doors painted professionally or DIY?

OP posts:
Ilovechoc12 · 23/02/2021 22:46

Professionally painted and we had beautiful wood kitchen (just too dark but super solid) .... however it chips do needs doing every couple of yrs ......

ForeverInADay · 23/02/2021 22:57

21k but quite a large space, granite worktops, 2 ovens, all other appliances and a wood floor

5k for a small kitchen. Similar units. Cheaper worktop. Similar floor.

I think it can vary hugely.

WeirdlyOdd · 23/02/2021 23:06

We did our utility last year, got the units half price in sale from Magnet. Chose 1 level up from most basic units/doors. Mid-range countertop.

Small room, no change to layout, and no appliances included - kitchen units, worktop and floor came to about 1.5k which was amazingly cheap. Was pleasantly surprised by Magnet quality but would probably go more upmarket for our kitchen renovation.

Tesame · 24/02/2021 02:24

Our kitchen was getting tired after just 8 years. We bought this from a diy store but the skin on the doors was starting to coming away, we could not afford to buy another new kitchen.

My husband found a company online call Universal kitchen doors and they do replacement kitchen cupboard doors, they where great my kitchen looks better than it did when it was originally installed. My husband was over the moon as he hates spending money.

caringcarer · 24/02/2021 02:52

I bought one on eBay for £750 and with fitting, new wall and floor tiles, sink, tap, worktops and plinths it cost about £3k in total. This includes integrated Bosch double oven and 5 ring gas hob, Integrated Diplomat dish washer, and fridge freezer and a Hotpoint washing machine. It is in a btl.

We had ours done at Christmas, all the kitchen cupboards and hardware 16k including large island and lots of deep drawers, quartz worktops 3.5k, plumbing and electrical work 4.5k, tiling 700, appliances (tall fridge and freezer, 2 Miele ovens, dishwasher, Gaggenau gas hob and extractor) around 7k
