Early hayfever

Is anybody else suddenly suffering from hay fever symptoms? Never had it this early in the year before.

Mine started 3 weeks ago, it's been that early for about 4 years now for me.

Icenii · 20/02/2021 09:16

I always get it early. I'm sure I read it was because of birch trees, which I planted 5 in the garden.

Popfan · 20/02/2021 09:17

Someone is going to tell you to have a covid test in a bit as a runny nose, sneezing, sore eyes can be symptoms.

However, I went to a nature reserve yesterday with my son age 13... he gets mild hayfever and his nose ran and he sneezed whilst there. Once we left it stopped and since then nothing. So it was a reaction to being outside.

Yes. The last fortnight or so I've been really suffering. I do get hay-fever early in the year but it's usually into March so this is particularly early.

Timbucktime · 20/02/2021 09:23

I know what you mean popfan, break your leg and your bound to get someone say you need a COVID test.

My hay fever hasn’t been quite so severe the last few years but since yesterday the familiar wired feeling deep in my ears, slight itching in my mouth and feeling a bit bunged has reappeared.

Yes I have started in February the last few years too. It's tree pollen I was told.

ValerieMorghulis · 20/02/2021 09:28

Yes, mine’s definitely started. I’m only taking the pills every other day but the tree pollen is getting to me. I’ve also realised having a bunch of daffodils in the room is a no Sad

MrsDThomas · 20/02/2021 09:30

My colleague came into work yesterday complaining of streaming eyes. She thought it was her hayfever but we thought “no way” at thus time of year.

everybodysang · 20/02/2021 09:30

Yep, three weeks ago. Earliest it's ever been, it usually starts about now. I am allergic to trees, grass and anything else that cares to send spores into the air. Have started antihistamines again and resigned myself to itchy eyes...

CaptainMyCaptain · 20/02/2021 09:30

I am a bit sniffy and wondered if hay fever was starting. I always get it early, from tree blossoms, it used to start in about April but for the past two years it has been March. Climate change?

BangingOn · 20/02/2021 09:31

Yes, I started taking tablets about 3 weeks ago. It usually comes at the end of February but has been earlier this year. My main symptoms are itchy eyes and I know it’s down to the tree pollen.

tryinganotherusername · 20/02/2021 09:33

It's tree pollen allergy - always earlier than regular hay fever. I normally start in February but noticed symptoms by last week of January this year!

mynameiscalypso · 20/02/2021 09:37

Yes, I've had it for the last week or so. Mainly my eyes. This is about normal for me although it still takes me by surprise every year.

Timbucktime · 20/02/2021 10:31

I’ve just had a thought, I have some Lilly’s in a bunch of valentines flowers, only one has been in bloom so I wonder if it’s pollen has been the cause for me.

OP posts:
AlwaysMoreCoffee · 20/02/2021 10:34

The sudden warmth and wet has brought out the pollen. “Pollen bomb” was the papers’ take on it last week!

ConstantlyCooking · 20/02/2021 10:38

DD and I have both started to feel hay fever symptoms for the last week or so. I am relieved it's not just us!

YouAreYourBestThing · 20/02/2021 10:39

February through to October for me in the last few years! Bloody hate it 😱

Oldraver · 20/02/2021 10:40

Mine hasn't started yet but it's usually not far off

Don’t think mine stopped at all this year.

We moved house to a complete new area in November. Feeling grateful we don’t have any birch trees in the garden here. Had one in last house and it really affected me.

CaptainMyCaptain · 20/02/2021 18:40

Lime tree flowers do it for me and come later in the year than most tree blossoms. I don't have any near where I live but have encountered them in other places, deadly.

Ghostlyglow · 20/02/2021 18:59

Mine's started early for a few years now. I start with antihistamines in February nowadays.

TheSpottedZebra · 20/02/2021 19:08

I dont want to be Tommy Two-Shits, but I take my antihistamines all year round now.
