What would be the cheapest way of sending 10 to 20kg of presents to Thailand? It is fine it it takes a few months. Thank you

Parcel2go gives quotes from a range of companies

Sledgeski · 20/02/2021 08:22

Thank you for this. All their options are just 3 or 5 day delivery hence cost £100 to £200 pounds. I am happy it it takes 4 months but the value of the presents are not worth spending several hundred pounds on postage. Is there a way to get cheaper postage by sea for example?

There used to be a company called excess baggage that were good at sending stuff. They had shops at the airports and St Pancras and also arranged pick up from house as well.
I've used them a couple of times but going back a few years now so not sure if they're still operating.
Try student move companies as well.

Thank you very much for this. Anyone tried sending recently?

Send it by sea-mail rather than air. Just go to post office and get them to office,

sledgeski · 23/02/2021 21:39

@Saz12 - do you mean I cant get a quote online as all options seem to be for quick delivery if over 2kg? I want to ship it not air but cant see how to get a price for that. No urgency for delivery at all. Otherwise it is £200. Thanks.

Have you looked at these rates? This is Parcelforce’s sea freight service:

www.parcelforce.com/sending-parcel/international-parcel-delivery/global-economy

Otherwise you could shop around for LCL (less than a container load) sea shipping rates, often quoted by the cubic metre.
