Built in wardrobes

We’ve got an old (30yrs) built in wardrobe that needs replacing. It’s L shaped. Anyone got any words of wisdom about where I start. I think Sharps will be more than DH wants to spend. So I assume it’s an Ikea job or ask local joiner. Am I missing anything ? Is it worth having sharps do the initial visit to look at what they suggest ?

TIA for any advice / wisdom ...

Sharps etc are really expensive and not worth the money imo. We've got IKEA pax in every room. They go right to the ceiling so look fitted and make the most of the space and you can configure the internals how you like.

Think about what you want to do with the space and then find a local company that will do what you want!
We have a tv built into ours! Behind the sliding doors. Its an epic piece of design and perfect for our use/wants. Attention to detail was really important to us so we found a company who could do things as we wanted. Lots said they could but then didnt really want to put the time/effort into the details to create 'exactly' what we wanted.

Could a local joiner refresh your current wardrobe, or is it too far gone for that?

Another vote for the Ikea pax. Have a look on Instagram or Pinterest at how easily you can make them look built in.

I’m playing on the Ikea planner , and think I need to wait for stores to reopen and get them to help! It’s driving me bonkers.

Existing wardrobe needs ripping out. The space is off our bedroom, so you could put a door on it and have it as a walk in. But the en-suite comes off it, so that wouldn’t work. Although double door would be great for muting bathroom noises !

I just want to eek out every inch as hate wasting space. I want someone who can do those Ikea hacks and totally tailor it :-). That is unfortunately not my DH !
