Just that really. In the grand scheme of things it’s not a big fuck up but I’m part furloughed, small company, boss having a rough time. I was asked to deal with something, dealt with half and passed the other half with queries on in an email to my boss and didn’t bother chasing it up. Boss has messaged asking why I haven’t dealt with it, I said I passed it on to you and he’s said he’s now dealing... but really it is my fault.

I even turned notifications off for WhatsApp so I didn’t have to face it but then I remembered I’m 33 so just apologised. I feel a bit hot and sweaty and have that horrible slightly sick feeling. Am now knee jerk reaction searching for new jobs!

DISCLAIMER: first world problems, lucky to have a job, lucky to be on part time furlough, yes there are worse things going on.

I missed a decimal point and invoiced someone £49000 for postage instead of £49.

OP, it doesn’t sound to me that you really did anything wrong!

I got the decimal point wrong in a purchase order once. It should have been for £45,000, not £450,000. Luckily, I spotted my mistake, but had no choice to tell my manager, so he could show me how to fix it.

Sorry, forgot to come back.
Basically I had a very old fashioned boss, incredible snob, who mumbled a lot through his horrible moustaches, and hated clarifying questions and usually wouldn’t answer them. I misheard the date and invited everyone to a reception for the day after.
When I realised I called every single person (during the boss’ 3 hour lunch break) and told them that owing to security concerns the visit had to be rescheduled.
Didn’t get caught.

I once ordered about 72 rolls of packing tape instead of a box about 6 0r 12. I did say I would send it back but Boss said no. I worked in a hospital and we had a lab that should have been locked off so at the doors by the lifts he used the tape to stop other people entering 'our' territory. He got told off by security but did not care!!!

More recently had an ex patient (mental health) phone up with a completely daft message to give to one of the big noises. Could not fob him off. He phoned about 12 times and finally put him through to someone who I thought was a big boss (I know you are not supposed to do this but was really getting fed up with him). The bloke I put him through to phoned me back asking why I had done that and no matter how much I apologised the kept on and on.
