I want to get something for a friend to cheer her up. I don’t really want to get flowers, candles, bath stuff as it feels a bit generic. Coming up with a blank for anything though so wondered if anyone has suggestions.

An afternoon tea delivered .

Ooh. Afternoon tea sounds nice.

I love a nice notebook and pen, but that might just be me.

We've just been recovering from Covid. My cousin did a doorstep drop of a bag of treat type food ie chocolate, cakes, nuts, crisps.

Not particularly healthy but it was nice, when we started to get our appetites back, to have some treat type things to pick at.

My mh is suffering due to Covid +home schooling. I completed my second jigsaw today and feel the bees knees!
Even my stressed teen joined in.
Quite therapeutic and a welcome distraction.
Has your friend got a hobby /interest you could theme a puzzle on?

When I split up, I got some great presents from friends and fam:
A bright, cheerful teapot and nice tea selection in a little tea caddy
Herb windowsill planter kit
A nice bullet journal, sticky notes and pen

For my birthday, someone got me a lovely hamper from a local shop with lots of lovely cheeses, crackers, nice meats etc. It was such a lovely gift to receive, and more so because it wasn't from a big chain, everything in it was quite different. And it lasted a good while so it was nice to dip in and out of it.

Crackerofdoom · 18/02/2021 19:53

Don't underestimate how much you thinking of her will mean to you, regardless of what the actual gift is.
Don't put yourself under too much pressure to come up with something extraordinary Flowers

A yummy hamper of some sort. It's such great fun unpacking them and unearthing the treasures, and then, of course, there's all the eating still to be done :-)

Or are there any local businesses that are delivering nice things? We have a little family run cake shop that deliver brownies and blondies etc.

Anything homemade. A homemade meal. Maybe supplied with paper takeaway plates as well so they don’t even have to wash up!

When DH and I were still dating I had a horrendous cold. He turned up on my doorstep one night with a mango as they're full of vitamin C. It's something so small but was really sweet.
Similarly a friend who was having IVF gave me a couple of packets of Haribos for my birthday one year as she was skint because of the treatment. She was so apologetic but I love Haribo! Sometimes it's the smallest gestures that mean the most.

Thank you for the suggestions. I’ll have a look through.
