Oo reminds me of when i was working in a lovely shop, 2 of us were heavily pregnant and on Saturdays someone would do 'the bun run' to local bakery.. we ate sooo many cakes!

Just came on to say lardy cake - local bakers used to make them every Saturday. Was our weekend treat, until they became a hairdressers 🙁

I want it to be the bakery from my Scottish childhood in StAndrews, and I want a fudge doughnut. I can almost taste it, and feel the sun on my sand covered shoulders on the way home from the beach. No idea if that bakery is still there, not been back to Scotland for twenty years....I’d also quite like some proper Scottish bread, and morning rolls to put Lorne sausage and HP in. Nostalgic moment...not like me. Lockdown must be getting to me!

A great big choux bun please. They used to sell them at the bakers when I was a kid. Like giant profiteroles but better. The choux was crispy, filled with fresh cream and hard chocolate on top. Lush!

The bakery I go to makes these but with a toffee topping rather than chocolate. I've yet to try one.
