Shoebox? Tupperware?

pippitysqueakity · 17/02/2021 20:13

old shoebox?
tupperware type box with tinfoil instead of lid?

Paperyfish · 17/02/2021 20:13

When the baby tortoise had to go the other day I used an old ice cream tub with clippings in and holes in the lid. Don’t forget the holes in the lid. Or a shoe box. Or similar.

A bucket with a bit of bedding in the bottom?

Kitkat151 · 17/02/2021 20:15

Biscuit / cake tin ( big one )
How old is your DD ....l does she have one of those toy pet carriers.... a hamster would fit nicely in there....but would need to secure the door well....and it would be able to breathe well through the bars.

baking bowl with tinfoil top?
When I took hamster to vets always just put them in their bed in a box of some type with a lid, because generally when my hamster needed a vet they didn't move much, so depends whats wrong with it.

Shoebox with some bedding?

Meowmeow20202 · 17/02/2021 20:24

Should've mentioned that im taking the bus. Shoebox isnt ideal as he loves chewing things. Isnt a ice cream tub too small?

Have you got one of those plastic tubs that the washing pods come in, with the flip lid? Few holes in the top that would be perfect I think.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 17/02/2021 21:23

I wouldn't worry about it being too small. Cat carriers are hardly spacious.

RunningFromInsanity · 17/02/2021 21:33

The hamster ball?

Paperyfish · 17/02/2021 22:25

A 1 pint Ben and Jerry rub might be a bit tight but a cheapo 2litre soft scoop tub is perfect.

Weedsnseeds1 · 17/02/2021 22:33

Any sort of plastic container with holes in the lid. The space doesn't matter, the hamster won't be living in it forever. Its just something for transport.
I wouldn't use foil as a lid, it's not tight fitting and will be off in seconds!

Pericombobulations · 18/02/2021 00:24

Ice cream box with holes should be fine. Have bought hamsters before in smaller boxes. As others have said, its just for transportation and in an emergency anything secure will do.

Have bought hamsters in cardboard containers before and whilst they didnt chew through them, they could have done and if they were older they probably would have.
