Hi so I had a Henry but moved house and had no where to store him so I got a cordless dyson one..but it's rubbish! Blocks up if it picks anything thicker than a dog hair .. not impressed but am stuck for what Hoover you get next. Any recommendations? I've heard sharks are good. I've got pets and a shedding daughter so needs to be good at picking up hair x

My Dyson V11 is fab. My friends Shark is the absolute pits.

Also have the corded lift away - have no complaints

Mammaaof · 17/02/2021 19:41

Corded lift away here and love it x

I have a cordless lift away shark, excellent far better than the dyson that lasted less than 6 months, my only complaint is about the lights that show all the dust when I haven't hoovered for weeks

ApplestheHare · 17/02/2021 19:42

I got this one about a month ago and have been really impressed! sharkclean.co.uk/product/shark-anti-hair-wrap-cordless-stick-vacuum-cleaner-with-flexology-single-battery-iz201uk-zidIZ201UK

We've got ddog and dcat, and dds and I have long hair. It definitely doesn't match something like a corded Dyson for suction but it's SO light and easy to use that we now hoover more often (but spend less time doing it) so the house is cleaner overall. It folds down with the press of a button so I don't have the falling over issue and it's tiny to store. Does our whole, fairly large, house on less than a whole charge too. Oh and it's miles quieter than the Dysons, Henrys or Vaxes we've had.

Echobelly · 17/02/2021 19:44

Love our Shark Lift away - it's very light which means it's really easy to take out when you need it. We never used to get much hoovering done as carrying the Meile around the house was such a schlep.

You do have to empty the Shark quite a lot, but it's very easy. Stringy things can get caught up in the beater brush, but again it's very easy to lift out and untangle anything stuck in it.

I got the Shark corded lift away with anti hair wrap last month. So far, I’ve been really impressed. The suction is great, much better than the Dyson it replaced. Would definitely recommend.

Doublechins · 17/02/2021 19:53

Brilliant on carpet but worst I've ever had for hard floors

Fourcolourpens · 17/02/2021 19:55

Absolute shite, I hate it. Clogs every time I use it, takes forever to unclog. Wastes battery life on the stupid lights. Seems to spit out more dirt than it sucks up.

It wasn’t my choice, I liked my old dyson.

It does fold up nice and small which is it’s one selling point.

lardass88 · 17/02/2021 20:23

Oh no! I've read reviews on the shark and been put off .. but also have heard lots of people raving about them. At this rate I'm going to be getting another smug faced Henry 😳🤯

Corded lift away pet, anti hair wrap here. Loved it for the first couple of months, now despise it. Falls over, blocks, seems to grind dog hair into the carpet 😬

Floralnomad · 17/02/2021 21:24

We have 2 shark cordless , the ones that double over , and they are excellent ( one upstairs , one downstairs) . We have also got cordless Dysons and the shark is way better . At the moment I’m being tempted by a Vax Blade though .

£500 quid on a hoover Shock don’t think I could do that
lardass88 · 17/02/2021 21:43

Anyone got any recommendations for Henry hoovers? There's about 20 different versions of those as well 🤣🤣

I don't like mine. I do agree that you can see a lot of dust, so the suction is good, but I can't compare to my bagged hoover as you couldn't see what it was doing. It is heavy and doesn't seem to get under things as well as my old wand one did. Also, the anti hair wrap is bollocks. I have a short bob hairstyle, so not exactly Rapunzel, but it strangles the brush in seconds. My old one also did better with the inevitable sucking up of small plastic toys, coins, art supplies and socks that seem to be prevalent when you have small children. Shark spits the dummy at that.

I had a my first Henry hoover in 2000. It was a slightly higher wattage than you can buy now (something to do with euro regs) It coped fabulously with a cottage renovation and loft conversion in the deep countryside plus attendant mud, kids, cats and dogs. I even used to hoover the patio with it (there i said it).

It died in 2020 in the middle of another massive house build :(
20 years of hard faithful service.

I was distraught. I reviewed hoovers for hours. In the end we bought another Henry. Again it is my best friend and is currently hoovering up plaster, stone, brick bits, brick dust and torn up insulation ect and leaving the floor clean. Hard floor, carpet or patio.

TIP use it bagless. Keep the big hat like filter in obvs. and when you come to empty the body of the Henry do it outside take the filter out first and beat in violently against a wall or something till all the dust is gone. Then empty the plastic body. Even in my circs. i only have to do this every two weeks or so.

Just get the most powerful you can OP.

Yes, Henry takes great delight in heading straight for anything his rubber bumper can get caught on (door frames is his favourite) and rolls over dramatically for no reason apx once a week, and is a bastard to carry up the stairs BUT you'll never get a suck like his from anything else Grin

Like you OP i keep hoping for someone to come along and tell us about a fab hoover which is light, preferably cordless but hoovers like buggery on carpet and hard floors and is perfect for keeping upstairs - because i put off carrying Henry up so he's so heavy.

I don't think it exists :(

I love my shark cordless anti hair wrap. Great for ease of use and it picks up an amazing amount of dog hair! Struggles with large bits but in general really pleased. Still kept my Henry as a back up...
