Just wondering if anybody has done similar and if so were there any consequences.
I live in a rented ground floor maisonette and have to park on the public road outside. The front garden comes with my property so is also my responsibility to maintain.
I have looked into getting a dropped curb put in and the garden turned into a driveway ( my landlord is fine with this ) but it's very expensive when the property is not mine.
I live on the corner of my road and a service road. There are double yellows that start outside my house and extend just around into the service road.
I live in a circular road and there are a number of these throughout. Last year the council extended the existing double yellows and that took away parking space for 8 or so cars in total so parking is worse than ever and there is no longer a space directly outside my house.
Also as parking is free there and in the centre of my village by the shops, pubs and school, when not in lockdown parking is very difficult
I am thinking of getting a couple of lines of wide slabs laid in the front garden,( done properly, not by me ) just enough to park my car on. As there are double yellows directly in front nobody will be blocking me in.
Has anyone done similar?
