How many times have you heard the word Mummy today?

In the last ten minutes alone I've heard "mummy" 13 times. During this time DD has also eaten lunch.

By bedtime I think I'll have heard "Muummmmeee" approximately a thousand times.

Gazillions. DS uses it as a placeholder while he's thinking about what to say next...

About 6. This is because I left at 7.45am this morning to go to work for the first time since mid-Dec and didn't get back until 6pm. It was heaven!!
8yo DS was stood at the front door, jumping up and down with excitement to see me and declare that he'd missed me. For the last few days, I have repeatedly been told how much he hates me (he is really missing the structure of home schooling and the fact that it gave him something to do) so this was a pleasant change. He has since given me a breath by breath account of his day which has involved lots of "mummy, come & see this" and "mummy, have I told you...l
11yo DD was just dialling into a hockey session so, other than an anguished "mummmmeeeee", she has left me alone.
Might swap between "mum" and "mummy". Mummy is used when they feel they need to get as much emotion into a word as possible so need the extra syllable.

If I had a pound for every time I’d be a billionaire

A million times and perhaps more annoyingly they are not my children. It’s being said very loudly from the kids next door.

Fuckadoodledoooo · 17/02/2021 18:53

70 billion.

One in a nice voice, the rest in whingy 6 year old voice and a teenager who calls me mummy when he wants something.

TokyoSushi · 17/02/2021 18:53

I reckon about 847 🙄

0 (mine are adults) but I have heard "Mmmmmmmmmmmmm" and "Ddddaaaa" and lots of tongue clicking from FB (foster baby) aged 10 months. He loves it when he clicks his tongue and we do it back to him, it is HILARIOUS (which is brilliant because he was a very withdrawn little baby when he first came to stay)

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 17/02/2021 20:45

Probably thousands. I have an extremely chatty 3 year old.

CherryRoulade · 17/02/2021 20:46

About half a dozen but only by phone.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 17/02/2021 20:56

My eldest has taken to calling me Mumsy or Mummery. I have been being quite rude in return.
My youngest is either so quiet it's scary or is just wall to wall mumeemumeemumeemumee....

lachy · 17/02/2021 21:00

@bloodywhitecat I am in awe of you and all you do for your foster babies Flowers

About forty to fifty, but it was me saying it to the cats.

Today I planned to tile in the en-suite so I set up lots of things for my son and told him he could have as much telly time as he wants, did he want to watch TV or play? Did he fuck. The highlight was him screaming Daddy, despite it sounding like he was being murdered he had actually just dropped his biscuit in his cup of squash. He also got up just before 5am today, so it might only be almost 2pm but my patience has already worn thin.

I sometimes repeatedly say his name over and over again, funnily enough he doesn’t like that.

Oh god, you've just given me a flashback 15 years. I'm still working through the PTSD Grin
PainterInPeril · 18/02/2021 14:09

@SimonJT I'm with your son on this one. Dropping your biscuit into your drink is a crisis/catastrophe/possible end of the world disaster!Grin

lachy · 18/02/2021 20:21

@SimonJT

My DD has FOMO. If I'm doing something that remotely piques her interest then there's no way I can get anything done without her "help".

Today it was the washing up...In the years to come she probably won't be begging me to let her wash up!
