On the "loo in full view" theme

Just wanted to share this

There was a thread the other day about a loo in a bedroom, no door.

I told my mum. Turns out she was invited to a house in the Docklands, in the 90s, the couple had a basement kitchen and basement loo and the loo was behind...a clear glass door, in full view of the kitchen.

When she inevitably had to ask to use the loo - she made sure they were in the lounge when she asked, which was ground floor - they just said "yes, you've seen where it is".

But it was a drinks party and there was obviously no guarantee that people wouldn't go downstairs...so she asked if there was a different bathroom she could use. They weren't happy but did show her to the upstairs loo, while muttering crossly that the basement loo was for guests.

The main bathroom upstairs had a proper door.

She also thinks it's not new as she has seen it in hotels!! The glass door, I mean, not the loo just right there in the bedroom.

What is wrong with people?!

Best loo with a view I ever went to had no door and faced out into the jungle in the Chiapas Highlands in Mexico, and when I went in the night all you could see was fireflies flashing away. Worst one was a door less long-drop toilet in Jinja in Uganda, and as I was mid-flow a black mamba slithered on by! Favourite one is at my sister’s house where you can sit on the loo and see the lighthouses flashing away along a stretch of coastline over 40 miles in length. I love loos where I can look out (less so loos where others can look in 😂)

I have no shame, I have used the Shard toilets and did not discover the blinds until I was washing my hands and wondering what the button was for!

CentrePoint also has only slightly obscure glass, AND they have hopper windows that you can open which i thought was very dodgy safety wise.

I like a Poo with a View , I loathe obscure glass in bathrooms! Two builders have told me it was compulsory...mynotfinkso! My downstairs toilet has clear glass, but is such a small window you can barely see out, and I also had a normal window in a previous house when we renovated.
