Evening all!
Just after opinions please on how many joggers, t shirts and jumpers for DS going to nursery 3.5 days a week please? I'm thinking only one jumper as he gets hot easily.
Also size wise, the joggers are aged 3-4 years but the tops are in inches, what size would I be best getting please, 22 24 or 26?
Thanks all! Smile

not sure on sizing but I would get 3 pairs of joggers and 2 jumpers and 2 t shirts..reasons are kids at nursery get mucky fast!! also you could keep a spair pair of joggers and pants in school bag incase of any accidents then you have one set in wash and one to go! Kids in nursery often get so busy they forget to go to the loo and also paint and water spillages etc.

Anywherebuthere · 16/02/2021 19:03

I would say a tshirt for everyday of the week (saves on washing everyday!) with two joggers and two jumpers.

If the uniform is just ordinary type that you get in Asda etc the multipacks are fairly cheap.

Size wise I'm not sure. Best to measure your child and look at the size chart of where you're purchasing from.

SunshineNeededNow · 16/02/2021 19:07

My dd goes 2 days and had 3 full sets.
She's going to 3 days soon so I'll buy 1 more. So 1 in bag. 1 for each day.
It gets washed each wear but I only iron once a week which is why so much.

It depends whether you want to be washing often. I would get a pair of joggers for each day and at least 2 jumpers. A polo top for each day is also handy. I always found it easier to have plenty of uniform or I was rushing around every night trying to put a wash on.

Commonwasher · 16/02/2021 19:15

Is it all expensive uniform with embroidered badges on it? If so, the minimum 2 T-shirt’s, 1 jumper & 2 joggers. Spares in bag can be plain versions for emergency. But if not get basic things from Sainsburys, I’d have 4 joggers, 4 T-shirt’s and 2 jumpers (you can a spare set in his bag and it takes the pressure off washing) but I would not buy anything pricey for going to school at that age. It’s tempting to get naive stuff from M&D but the best advice I had about preschool was from a friend who was head of early years: ‘get the cheapest uniform you can find — it will get absolutely trashed.’ She was right!

Commonwasher · 16/02/2021 19:16

*nice not naive... Confused

PinkDaydreams · 16/02/2021 20:00

The size guide is rubbish, literally 22 24 or 26 inch, that's it no age guide next to it. I'll do as you've suggested and measure his current t shirts and jumpers and go with that. It's embroidered uniform, mustard coloured tops which I've never seen in supermarkets Confused
The uniform isn't actually compulsory but I'd like him in uniform as the majority wear it.

Oh they said to take in spare clothing for him in case his gets wet, I asked if that should be uniform but they said no, anything will do as it's just spare.

Some supermarkets sell plain mustard coloured polo tops.

Our primary school had logo’d stuff, I only ever bought the logo’d sweatshirts (to wear in school photos and anything official!) and they had plain polos all the way through - which generally got covered with lunch and paint etc!

Get plenty. You’ll be washing it after every wear!

PinkDaydreams · 16/02/2021 20:10

So he will be doing two and a half days, general consensus is three joggers, three polos and two jumpers? Spare clothing I will send in plain joggers and a t shirt, to be honest I'm expecting never to see it again as I've heard stories of clothes going missing!

Can you possibly buy only as few items as initially required? Or is it a minimum online order with a single post and packaging charge each time? (It is not Billings & Edmonds guess because of mustard and possibly breeches by any chance?)

Redcrayons · 16/02/2021 20:26

Clean one for every day (I think they Make the roll them around in muck, paint and food just before home time).
So if it’s consecutive days then 3 sets, so you’re not panicking about washing and ironing You could have less if alternate days.

peak2021 · 16/02/2021 20:33

How good is your washing machine and drying facilities?

LadyCatStark · 16/02/2021 20:37

The joggers sound massive, if it’s the same sizing as DS’s BMX pants which have the same sort of numbers he wears a 26 and he’s 11!!

BikeRunSki · 16/02/2021 20:41

26” is probably too big. DS is the eldest in his school year, tall anyway, and started Reception 4 days before his 5th birthday in an26” jumper.

BikeRunSki · 16/02/2021 20:47

Next do these gold uniform polos

Sainsbury’s do these paler yellow polo shirts

PinkDaydreams · 16/02/2021 20:59

Sorry, the joggers come as ages so I'll get 3-4 but it's the tops that are inches. Yes three consecutive days, unfortunately no tumble drier.
Luckily there's no minimum order so I can buy more if needed, they've got plenty in each size on site apparently!
He's only going to be doing an hour a day to start with for his settling in period, not sure how long that'll be for as obviously lockdown will have played a big part in separation anxiety Confused

@PinkDaydreams, my dc are in Y7 and Y4 now. I’ve bought a lot of polo shirts! Good luck with nursery x

RavingAnnie · 16/02/2021 21:09

I'd say clean set for everyday too. Unless you want to be washing and drying in a rush mid week.

PinkDaydreams · 16/02/2021 21:12

Thank you so much everyone, I knew Mumsnet would save the day! :)
