Facebook pop up adverts. I should have known better.

I ordered a cat scarf from a Facebook pop up ad in December, as a Christmas present.

I really should have known better. It was coming from China and was very cheap. I should never have hit buy, for ethical reasons never mind anything else, but I did. Blush

I’d pretty much forgotten about it what with everything that’s going on, and then today with no notification it suddenly dropped on my door mat.

It is SO bad! Hilariously shite. I thought I’d share. Here is a photo from the advert, and one of the actual scarf.

Anyone else learnt the hard way not to respond to these adverts?!

I'm not gonna lie, which is the bad one??

OMG that is hilariously bad. The original image is probably stolen, likely from someone who actually spent many, many hours crafting that cat.

Similiar - Bernadette Banner has a YouTube video about ordering a knockoff from China of her own handmade dress:

I have no words!!!

Warrickdaviesasplates · 16/02/2021 17:26

It looks like a cat from a Tim Burton style film.

One of those situations where you must learn to laugh at your own folly.

Maybe suitable for an active child who might drop & trample it in the mud?!

LApprentiSorcier · 16/02/2021 17:35

Was it knitted by this extremely talented pet artist?

@CloserClatice harsh but fair!
That's really quite something.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 16/02/2021 17:52

I can't see the problem. I mean, the whole concept of the item is absolutely not what would appeal to me in the slightest; but if that is what you're after, it seems to fulfil the brief, doesn't it?!

Is it definitely made of faux fur? It isn't unheard of in countries where cats aren't quite as widely loved as they are here to just use actual cat fur.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 16/02/2021 17:55

What were you hoping for/expecting - just a standard scarf with a recurring cat print pattern?

Maybe you're lucky that it wasn't actually a scarf for a cat to angrily scratch off wear - somebody on here recently bought a jumper for their cat!

Notsureaboutmuch · 16/02/2021 17:57

It’s usually the size of items that varies tremendously from the original advert. I agree with a pp that the design has probably been taken from another business.

It’s knitted faux wool.
