If you’re making pancakes today, what recipe and how do you cook them?

Some recipes say cook in butter, others oil.

How do you do yours? 🥞🥞🥞

With American pancakes I like maple syrup and streaky bacon.

We will have savoury and sweet pancakes
Bero recipie I have always used, pouring batter
100g plain flour
1 egg
300ml milk

I do like drop scones for breakfast on weekends or ‘scotch pancakes’.
Again Bero
100g SRF
1egg
60ml Milk
Tbsp caster sugar

To those having‘American pancakes’ tonight, I guess you will not have lemon and sugar on them ? Which is still the best filling for pancakes IMO.

We make Scottish pancakes as follows:

300g Self Raising Flour
1.5 teaspoons Baking Powder
60g Castor Sugar
2 Large Eggs
200ml milk
1 tbsp syrup

Mix all the ingredients, rub a little butter into a pan and put on medium heat, then add a tbsp of batter for each pancake.

Are ‘American pancakes ‘ just big drop scones / scotch pancakes ?
Or are they different ?

@Deathraystare

Mine are ready made from Sainsburys. I will be having some of them with lemon and sugar. The rest stay in the fridge for another day!
Looks like we're the only ones - once you've had the supermarket ready made - no contest. (are you sure you don't want to save the rest for Tuesday though?Grin

I also have duck pancakes for supper - have to share those with my cat.

who knew - there's a pancake emoji 🥞

Crack one egg. Dump in random amount of plain flour. Add random amount of sugar, alot less than the flour. Splash milk in until it's like a cream consistency. Always perfect.

Takeitonthechin · 16/02/2021 21:18

It's the Jamie Oliver recipes, 1 cup of plain flour, 1 cup of milk, 1 egg, mix it up into a batter.

I’m another devotee of the 1-2-3 method, but I also add a tsp or two of veg oil to the mix. I actually make crepe-style pancakes most weekends, so I have two crepe pans specially for making pancakes. They’re non-stick and I find I don’t need to add any fat to the pans at all. Turn out perfect every time. My DC are utter gannets for pancakes so I make a double batch of batter (so 200g plain flour, 4 eggs, 600ml milk). Their favourite fillings (which they alternate with each pancake) are maple syrup, lemon and sugar, and butterscotch sauce.
