Are hairdressers definitely shut?

I had an appointment tomorrow and there is nothing on the website saying they’re shut. No answer when I ring to check. Had no notification of appointment cancelled.

Yes, definitely shut OP

On a separate note re their Facebook page, I've noticed a lot of local businesses not posting anything this time round, when they had for previous lockdowns and when we went into tier 3. It's really sad because it's like they just don't have the heart anymore to say anything about it, and there's a few I don't think will ever reopen now after scraping through last year

My hairdresser is doing home visits thank goodness.
And before virtuous posters howl in outrage, she is a single mum who is a sole trader with no gov help at all.
Not everybody is wfh and/or on furlough.

MercyBooth · 15/02/2021 20:27

Unless you are a celeb then yes they are shut.

They are shut. She faces a fine as do you if caught.

Which of those things is the magic element that stops her possibly transmitting covid from one client to the next

Clearly as well as no help she has no common sense or thought for others.

Being as no risk assessment or ventilation has been considered, nor does she know who has been in or out of the home as well as how clean the house us. She probably poses a very high risk to her customers. At least in a salon you can mitigate risk.

SunshineNeededNow · 15/02/2021 21:28

Fwiw I know 4 different hairdressers from different salons doing home cuts for the same reason. No gov help, one close to losing their home.
Thankfully there's been no cases with any of them.
( and no I haven't had anyone to my home. I seldomly get my haircut in normal circumstances let alone in a pandemic)

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 15/02/2021 21:38

Of course they're closed.

I hope you haven't arranged to meet a friend for a drink too

Self employed beauty therapist here - I'm in this fix. Literally can't think of anything else to say on my social media. I'm completely disillusioned.

Oh well that’s ok then, fuck knows how many people she’s spreading Covid to but she’s the only single mum sole trader in the world so that’s fine

I assume by the “thank goodness” that you have had your hair done. How nice for you Hmm and to actually commend her for doing so. Disgraceful. Really.
Vthirtyone · 16/02/2021 22:47

I'm a hairdresser and yes, we are all closed!
But to answer your point about FB announcements etc, I have noticed (and I have done the same) that pretty much no salons have done a statement on social media like lockdown 1, because we are depressed and worried and fed up, and it's hard to post a professional sounding announcement, without sounding grim. First time round I had a rainbow poster in my salon window with a statement about being closed and 'stay safe' etc etc.
This time, nowt.

CallforHecate · 16/02/2021 22:49

So if they are very active on social media why not just post on their Facebook page to ask them?!
