First ski holiday

When we're eventually able to travel again, we're thinking of doing a skiing holiday. Kids would be 14 and 11. Are they too old for ski school? Wouldn't want them to be in a group with toddlers!

We first went skiing as a family when my step-son was 13. He and I enrolled in ski school together. There were all ages over 10 (this was in Austria). Worked perfectly.
Ski schools generally will have classes that are age-based. The one we went to had a children's area (in fact we started off on some of their equipment) and it looked really good fun.

Hi! I was wondering the same thing as my kids are approaching that age and I think it'll be a while before we manage the first ski holiday! But I've read that most ski schools have a variety of age classes etc, so we should be fine! Doubt theyd be with toddlers anyway for safeguarding (i.e. you'd need more staff to pay attention on toddlers aha!!))

Might be worth getting them to try some snow sports stuff in the UK before you go? My kids did that and loved it - we enjoyed some of the ski staycation activities and loved it. Was a good indicator of whether the kids are up for a ski holiday, and whether they'll enjoy a ski school too!

Hope that helps :)

They won't be in with toddlers. Most ski schools have classes by age/ability.

Ski schools will take anybody who buys lessons form tots to OAPs. Generally the school will aim to group classes by ability/age/language but group composition will vary between schools and week to week according to numbers. Many schools have additional instructors working at busy times weekends and school holidays.
As beginners I would look for a beginner friendly resort with reasonable popularity with Brits English speakers to improve chances or getting a group that fits. Andorra is noted for having good instruction in English and I presume the Pas de la Casa supposedly has a large number of native English speaking instructors.

Alternatively A family group of similar no experience may find that a private instructor for them is comparable cost to group lessons and can work well as it will be tailored to your needs.

We got a private instructor for all four of us (went at the pace of the slowest learner so no good if you don't need lessons )

They join age related ski schools
