Neighbors Just Got Married in their Back Garden! ❤️

A heartwarming story for Valentine’s Day. A couple moved into our street a few months ago, I barely know them as we’ve all been socially distancing, but their immediate nextdoor neighbour told me that they were getting married in their back garden. I’m guessing their original wedding plans weren’t possible in the pandemic.

It’s a miserable weekend here, snow covered and cold, but they decorated their garden with balloons and got married with a few family members in attendance (we’re not in lockdown). Neighbors all watched over our fences.😄
So nice to see their happiness, despite the wretched year we’ve all had.❤️❤️

It won't have been legal, though. Weddings have to be indoors at a registered venue. misses the point of the thread

That said, my favourite ever wedding was when my next door neighbours walked into town, got married at the registry office, then had a reception in our tiny shared garden.

I love stories like that. Flashy weddings do nothing for me. Give me an elopement or a freezing garden wedding any day Smile

bourbonne, that’s not the case in other nations (eg Scotland). Can marry anywhere, though the officiating person needs to be registered.

Ah, didn't know about Scotland. I know Americans can marry anywhere, so did belatedly wonder if the spelling of "Neighbor" was a clue.

We’re in the US and I’m not sure what the laws are for outdoor weddings, They may have already had a legal ceremony at the courthouse though, probably weren’t allowed any family in attendance. This may be their way of including immediate family. It was lovely anyway!

That is lovely. What a nice pick me up in the middle of this horrible news.

Ahhh lovely. I bet it was really pretty with all the snow too.

In Scotland you are able to get married anywhere with a 'qualified' (that's not the correct term!) celebrant!

I got married on a beach in Scotland as that law doesn’t apply here. I believe I’m legally married as I have all the paperwork to say so!
