When did your child grow out of dinosaurs?

I'm wondering at what age children grow out of dinosaurs? I'm sure this varies entirely depending on the child in question, but parents who have had children (mine is a son) who have been really into dinosaurs, and dinosaur clothing, etc... at what age did yours grow out of this phase?

His dinosaur obsession was from 3-4. He chooses a different obsession every year Hmm

@WarriorN good luck to your son! She did biology, maths, chemistry and geography A level then did a degree in biology, then started again because she wanted a degree in zoology and then specialised in palaeontology. Not entirely sure how the whole specialising thing came about as she was well into her 20s at this point and didn’t need any assistance or guidance

My 12 year old has wanted to be a palaeontologist since she was 3, no sign of abatement. Has expanded and reads other popular science like Kindred and Sapiens too.

I'm 32 and DH bought me a megalodon tooth for Xmas Grin

@JeffreyJefferson

She never did. She’s now a palaeontologist and the most knowledgeable person I know Smile
Oh I love this!

My ten year old wants to be a palaeontologist!

This is so nice to hear. DD is only 4 but crazy about dinosaurs and fossils... it started when I got one of those Amazing Women books for her, she was instantly taken with being the next Mary Anning. We were pretty excited to find a fossilised oyster this week on the South Devon coast. It’s incredible to think you’re holding something millions of years old!

Fourcolourpens · 19/02/2021 17:04

My partner is 54 and still very in to dinosaurs.. the natural history museum is one of his favourite places..

BeastOfBODMAS · 19/02/2021 17:17

I am 29 and got a dinosaur t-shirt for Xmas and I love it.

DBro as a toddler was obsessed with hoovers and diggers. He’s now a builder with a heavy machinery licence but he’s not been observed hoovering anything since three-and-a-half 🧹🦕

Fromthegekko · 19/02/2021 17:17

I’m 60 and I still love dinosaurs .

My DD (late 20's) and her DP (early 30's), have a 4ft model of a T-Rex in their living room, they have still to grow out of their obsession. Grin

My 15 year old still loves Godzilla, Jurassic park etc. We have a bearded Dragon , he is adorable and reminds me of a baby dinosaur , the shape , and soft spikes around his face. You are never too old for dinosaurs.

DontBeShelfish · 19/02/2021 17:25

@britnay

Dinosaurs are pretty awesome! :D
Surely that's roar-some? Grin

I think year 3/4 at school is when they start to care a bit more about the clothes they wear.

Fabulous, thanks for the advice!

WarriorN · 20/02/2021 08:09

He's pretty into those things already, and history (inhales horrible histories and anything said at school) so there's a possibility it carries him to actual palaeontology and if not at least a good base for other things.
