My DC are 14, 12 and and it’s been really nice to move beyond cartoons for our Saturday family movie night...

So far we have watched Interstellar, Goodnight Mr Tom and Sully, RV which have all gone down well...

What else can you recommend?

My 9,6 & 2 year old are currently really enjoying crocodile Dundee. We also watched the Indiana Jones films recently and they enjoyed those too.

We recently watched get smart and thought it was great.

We've just done Master and Commander, went very well. Also Bend it Like Beckham and Groundhog Day.

Men in black franchise has gone down well here. We're just ploughing through the Marvel films which I also recommend

Castaway with Tom Hanks. The Hate U Give - watched it with my son aged 11 and a friend and her son of the same age. They were blown away by it and lead to great discussions. They were both very worldly, urban kids though. ET. A Night on the Museum.

There's a film I reccomend to everyone, that no-one ever seems to have heard of. It's one of mine and DD'S absolute favourites (she's 14 now, first aatched it when she was 11 or 12). We can watch it again and again (and again...)
It's called McFarland USA.
It's based on a true story and Kevin Costner plays a teacher who trains a team of cross country runners.
It is honestly brilliant and if you don't have a lump in your throat at the end then your heart is made of stone!
I think it's the perfect type of film you're looking for...

We ended up doing two, Sully and Lion, both amazing and and all girls sat glued to even with the subtitles half of Lion...

We have done the likes of Harry Potter, Matilda etc but nice that we can now watch something a little bit child focussed.

We're watching bicentennial man with our 11 year old tonight and it seems pretty good so far.

@Thoughtsfortheday, it really is a great family film. Even DD2 (8) will watch it with us and she's got a notoriously short attention span for films. It's sometimes on BBC2. DH managed to get me the blu ray from ebay, the basic DVD didn't seem to be available anywhere. I found the ending really emotional (in a good way!)
Another good one if you haven't seen it is
Fly Away Home. A girl from New Zealand gets sent to live with her Dad (who she doesn't know) in Canada when her Mum dies. She becomes a sort of surrogate mother to some orphaned goslings. I won't say too much or I would spoil it, but it's a really lovely film - and the geese are pretty cute too!
Just last night me, DH and DD1 watched Instant Family on netflix and we all enjoyed it.
