Glassware made in the UK?

Googling and MUCH Instagram stalking have not yet helped me reach a conclusion:

I want to replace our 10+ yr old/Tesco emergency purchase wine glasses with something... naice.

Me and the OH usually pick up things while on holidays/travelling about, but, y’know. Lockdown.

I don’t want to just buy summit off John Lewis, but I can’t afford blumin £100/glass crystal off of Downton Abbey. Any suggestions for nice glass, from a small business, that you actually DARE to use??

Thank you!

What about studio hand blown? Lots of little studios around. Some can be expensive but usually you can pick up seconds easily and if you don't know much about glass you won't know they are not perfect.

Cumbria Crystal - the most beautiful glasses!

And you can buy seconds for much cheaper, which you wouldn’t know were seconds

I don’t live that far from Sherwood Forest, and there are some glass studios there, but everything is decorative! From baubles to lizards, but not a drinking implement in sight. Do you know any by name, that a google search may not be showing in the first couple of pages?

I am very open to seconds Grin I have some bloody beautiful seconds!

Samara Ball.
Lindean Mill Glass.
Twists Glass Studio..
Loads of nice stuff. Personally not a fan of cut glass ( as you can see from my suggestions ) but I like stuff not everyone has.

My friend recommends here, she lived in the village until fairly recently and they look awesome www.sandersandwallace.co.uk/gallery/drinking-glasses

The Lindean Mill and Twists stuff looks great! Excuse my ignorance, but if the style isn’t “cut glass” what do I call it?

Cut glass is lead crystal, so the glass is 'softer' so they can then tool into it to make a texture on the surface. Like Edinburgh crystal. They tend to be very heavy and chunky.
Non leaded glass is slightly lighter and has a different melting point. Having lead in glass is totally safe - it's not like it leaches or poisons you.
Non leaded glass is slightly more transparent.
Personally I think cut crystal is too heavy and old fashioned for me ( but totally understand people love it ). I just like the clean design of non cut crystal. I love the different colour options and freshness, but again just my personal opinion.

When I was looking, I found this site, which I've bookmarked. Great British Products

greatbritishproducts.co.uk/

The glasses on there are a little overdecorated for me, but very pretty.

Bristol Blue Glass bristol-glass.co.uk/

They do coloured and clear glass. Its all hand blown and beautiful. The workshop is in Bristol and you can watch it being made if you are ever in the area.
