Looking for recommendations for a boy who has read and loved - dogman, captain underpants, Hilo, bunny vs monkey & looshkin. Doesn't have to be comic book style but nothing too serious or advanced. Thanks 😊

My son loves captain underpants too.

He also liked the ‘Dave Pidgeon’ books because they are quite silly.

He has also started ‘last kids on earth’ book but that might not be suitable for kids who worry about monsters etc.

We are reading 'The Twits' atm and my 6 year old is loving it. He also enjoys the Dirty Bertie books, and Mr Gum.

Yellowcar2 · 13/02/2021 19:36

My 7yo son loves all the David Walliams books.

How did you get your child into these books?

Aimee1987 · 13/02/2021 21:12

@OhioOhioOhio

How did you get your child into these books?
We started with bed time reading/ reading assigned by school. When he was little we would read to him or we each do a page. The big switch we found at about 7 was we started to send him off to do independent play. He had Lego, activity books, toys or his books all in his room and he had to go entertain himself for half an hour. So he started reading his books. He was never bored up untill this point so never went off to read himself. But a little bit of boredom goes a long way. Hes 8 now and has got himself a mini library upstairs from lockdown birthday and Christmas.

Beast Quest Series 1
Roald Dhal
David Walliams
Highland Falcon
The Ickabog and First Harry Potter

DS would not have been able to read all of these to himself at 7, but we read every night and at 8 and a bit he read The Ickabog by himself in a few days!

OhioOhioOhio · 13/02/2021 22:01

Thank you. My eldest prefers non fiction. I'd love for him to enjoy stories.
